We can all agree that undocumented workers who have committed serious crimes should be sent home...

We can all agree that undocumented workers who have committed serious crimes should be sent home *, but I fail to see the efficacy or morality of deporting undocumented workers who are productive, law abiding, and have ties to the community.

Maybe they shouldn't have been here in the first place, but if folks didn't give them jobs they couldn't have stayed. It seems cruel to make them leave now.

*after they served their sentence.obviously it was implied.

But wait - those are corporations - which do we have an easier time picking on - helpless undocumented immigrants or medium to big companies?

States but they're not being enforced. Basically there is no punishment for employing undocumented workers...

Workers is a crime, and with heavy fines?

Then what do we do with all the unemployed?

-Enhance border security
- For those undocumented workers who can prove good character and ties to the community they should be given a path to citizenship which includes the payment of some sort of fine commensurate with income.
- Undocumented workers who have committed serious crimes should be sent back home.
- Once this system is in place employers who knowingly hire undocumented workers should be fined.

bigots any day. I really enjoy living in an area that probably couldn't economically survive without undocumented workers (NW Arkansas, home of chicken farms, Tyson's, George's, and Walmart). Great Hispanic grocery stores and restaurants and festivals.

Aren't as dangerous to society as the 'sovereign citizens'. If we're gonna do something about someone, I'd prefer we start there.

commit any violent crime or crime of a sexual nature need to be exported AFTER being convicted and serving their sentence. If they are just deported without doing the time they will just come back and be a threat again right away.

and if convicted, imprisoned as the law requires. I think the system fails when they are simply deported, at the random say of who knows who, only to return and resume the lawlessness.

Of course there are laws prohibiting hiring of undocumented. For example, not having a SS # or other tax number. But false ids are presented leaving the employer to do the work of finding out who they are. But is this so unusual? Try getting a job without being able to show a credit report, giving references and presenting at least a driver's license.

The system set up for the owner, not the worker, and the workers will get screwed until the system is changed.
