I wanted to belt him w/the cane but walked away instead not forgetting nor forgiving.

I'll be damned if I let ANYBODY diss him.

One time I got my revenge, and I didn't have to lift a fist. We'd just gotten out of the car in a theater parking lot. His wooden leg was being repaired and he was temporarily crutching it. So we weren't exactly breaking any land speed records. Some jerk in the car behind us started honking, really obnoxiously. Stupid us - I guess we were in his way. So I decided someone needed to be taught a lesson. My husband proceeded ahead of me, while I did the Slow-Walk-of-the-Century, straight down the middle of the row, all the way from the far end where we'd parked, to the theater entrance. Right smack-dab down the middle. I wanted to make sure it was impossible to pass me on either side. I intentionally took several minutes to stroll approximately 50 feet. My thoughts were - "you can just damn well WAIT, you SOB. I'm going to take all the damn time I feel like taking." I think I recall stopping on the way, to rummage through my purse for a few moments. Whoever it was rolled slowly along behind me, and floored it when I finally reached the theater door. I'm sorry - but that made me feel SOOOOOOOOOOOOO good! My husband thought it was hilarious.

I've been known to crab at people who are able-bodied but park in a handicapped spot. Sometimes I go into the store, find the manager, and rat them out. Aside from my husband, there are lots of elderly people in our neighborhood and many of them have permits to park in those handicapped spots, and they can't walk across a parking lot or get out of somebody's way very quickly, either. They need those spaces! It seriously pisses me off to see some lazy-ass selfish jerk who isn't handicapped take one of those spaces because they're "just gonna be two seconds." I always check cars parked in handicapped spaces to make sure they have a handicap parking permit or license plate that allows them to park there. I'm kind of a Nazi that way.

Great story. And you gave that a-hole exactly what he deserved. Kudos on that!

I can't even count how many times I'm crossing a street with the pedestrian crossing signal and some jerk making a left turn gets all pissed off that I'm in his way. They get 3/4 of the way through the turn and slam on their brakes right before the crosswalk. I just stop right in front of them and stare, giving them the evil eye. I then take my sweet time walking the rest of the way to the curb. It's amazing how long it can take to walk that last 10-15 feet or so. It's so exhausting that sometimes I need to stop to rest a couple of times.

And I'm with you on the handicap parking spots. It pisses me off royally when I see someone park there that shouldn't. I always check those spots when I walk by them on my way into the store and if I see a vehicle w/o handicapped plates/stickers/hang tags, etc., I report them. They always thank me for letting them know and immediately call the manager. More than once, and at more than one store, I've seen the manager out there arguing with the guilty party when I return to my car. It's good to know that they take these things seriously. I know I sure do. So I guess you can put me down as a Nazi for handicapped parking spots too. Glad to join your group. From the looks of it, I'd say I'm in good company.

he or she gets on the intercom and makes a public announcement "May I have your attention please. Will the owner of such-n-such a car (description) please move it. You're parked in a handicapped spot."

Sometimes that's actually happened. And it's SUPREMELY satisfying!

Frankly, my husband doesn't always use his handicap permit, even though he's fully entitled to it. Sometimes he's in the mood to walk the extra few steps. But there are others who need that privilege all the time, and they're the ones for whom that allowance was intended. And, annoyingly enough, it's often somebody in a jogging outfit or a young-to-40-something able-bodied adult who should know better, who pulls this shit - mainly because they're lazy, or maybe just plain inconsiderate. In such a case I suppose they must be mentally handicapped.

but that would be awesome! Shame is a great motivator. At the stores I have complained to, the manager heads right out to the car. If there's no one in it, they wait. And if security happens by, the manager will flag them down for good measure. It's great to see them dressing down an asshat. Especially when they mention how much they could be fined for parking illegally. I remember I overheard a manager and the security person chewing out someone that had an expired hang tag (like, expired by a year or two) and they really let him have it. They were NOT AT ALL happy that the driver was trying to pull a fast one by using an old tag. I stopped and watched, just for good measure.

I remember being particularly ticked when I saw a 20-something park in the handicapped spot, hop out of his car, and bound in to the store. Pissed me off no end, especially because there were plenty of open spots just 2 or 3 spots further away. Seriously? You should be GLAD that you're healthy and don't need to use a handicapped spot. At any rate, any time he saved by parking there was more than negated by the time he spent talking to the manager.

Mentally handicapped. I think you're on to something. That's probably the case with the guy that my Dad saw park his morotcycle in a handicapped spot.

They had a temporary hanging sticker because she had recently had foot surgery, was in a special walking cast over which she wore loose slacks, but was supposed to limit her time walking. Her husband parked, got out and helped her out, and they went in to the movies. They came back to torn up windshield wipers and other trash on their car. They figured someone saw her walking without crutches and decided to abuse her car.

I'm glad people report instead of taking the law into their hands. It doesn't help those with physical disabilities for other people to judge who is and who isn't disabled.

The deplorables don't think this through.

The deplorables don't have disabled parents.

The deplorables don't like veterans who were enough bad soldiers to get shot but not bad enough to get killed (as if skill has much to do with it).

The deplorables don't like children with disabilities even though they come from fetuses which they adore.

The deplorables have never heard of anyone being injured in a car accident.

The deplorables with diabetes (and there are many) don't realize they are at risk for an amputation down the line.

because of their roots, their deep understanding of history and oppression of
their ancestors, they know what it takes to lead, to be fair, to exercise power
popularly and legitimately.

The French experience in Canada is a remarkable study, from the dramatic
loss of the continent to the British on the Plains of Abraham*, a near Biblical
apocalypse to the devout French community, to the French Diaspora and
separatism that remains to this day and touches communities in the Northeastern
United States.

I have studied this because I am a tad French Canadian. Their well documented
Church archives make ancestry easy!

*The Plains of Abraham refer to the Battle of Quebec, fought on the flat farmland on the
river bank outside Quebec City. The farm was owned by Abraham Martin, thus the Plains
of Abraham. Both British and French commanders died in the battle: Wolfe and Montcalm.
No more important battle was ever fought in North America. It determined the future
political control of Canada.
