(16,858 posts)Fuck all the BS "party infighting"/"factions" shit that some have been trying to foment. I like Ellison and Perez, but the mayor of south bend knocked it out of the park for me. I think he would be a powerful leader for the party!

(16,858 posts)We're waaaaay past the time for infighting. To do so now will only result in our own demise. The focus needs to be on opposing Trump and taking on the GOP. I truly believe Buttigieg would provide that focus.

(34,648 posts)Funny, I had been sold on Perez until tonight. Now I want oneof these two who really said what I want to hear and they seemed earnest.

(11,686 posts)I must admit I liked the fact that Harrison had been poor at some time in his life. I have always felt that means they truly understand the larger percentage of the Americans. I am not saying the larger percentage of Americans are poor but it does give them a better idea of reality. I have always had a hard time feeling bad for the middle class because the ones who are ignored the most are the working poor. I think Harrison would do well remembering them. From what I have seen and heard though it looks like Ellison is more likely to get in and I would vote for him.

(19,559 posts)I'd only been exposed to Perez and Ellison before, I liked them both fine, but when I met Buttigieg tonight... he won me over.
If I had a real vote, he'd be my pick.

(19,559 posts)When I saw it in print as a potential contender, my brain was way off on how to pronounced it versus what I heard tonight. But, I'm adaptable, and can adjust if we get lucky enough to get him as Chair.

(19,559 posts)Luckily for us, he seems to have worked hard on substance to make sure we don't care. I can master an obscure surname for a good cause any day.

(17,301 posts)And has been mayor of South Bend, Indiana since 2012? What an overachiever!!!
I missed the debate and know little about him so I had to look him on the innerwebz. Will watch debate highlights on CNN later.

(34,648 posts)Plus I feel like he did a bit of double talk, no thx. DWS did that and it was not helpful in the end.

(55,894 posts)as I would also prefer to see Keith E. stay in office.

(55,894 posts)He understands what data mining is and worked military intelligence.
Both are crucial to making DNC effective and safe.
bravenak
(34,648 posts)We might be seeing a future Presidential candidate in him. I automatically liked him as soon as he started talking.

(30,481 posts)Didn't vote for him in this poll. I actually like just about all of the options. No lack of love here.

(8,361 posts)again on national TV. He doesn't have a chance anyway, which is good. Many talented people there, work together so we can win in 2018 and then the presidency in 2020. There is so much on the line I could not stand to listen to the primary war again. I thought, is he kidding me! Trump and Bannon in the White House and you want to keep fighting.
bravenak
(34,648 posts)Even on twitter i saw his peeps trying to troll

(8,361 posts)My 2 cents, if he was going to say anything at all it should have been to be honest and say, for some people this issue will not be settled. What adults do next, we focus on what we can do now. It is dishonest to delve into it as if the rift is the reason the debate was held. The purpose was to listen to who would be best to serve the DNC chair going forward. It is dishonest to even suggest our problems began and ended with some feeling slighted over the primary process and blame Debbie and Hillary.
We have been losing and our losses pre-date DWS and Hillary running for president. It was not their fault, and we want to win, so lets do x y and z to get there.
He pissed me off, rant over. lol

(806 posts)I have concerns that he's going to be a continuation of the current coastal/urban centered status quo (and I don't think anybody would deny that the party's trajectory in terms of seats won since 2009 has been nothing short of disastrous), but I have enough reservations about the other candidates to basically decide to go with the "safest" choice.

(13,781 posts)... He has managed to move himself to the front. He must have some political smarts.
... He is a compromise between the two main factions in the party. We've got to unify!
... He's young. (I'm 72. I get to say stuff like that.)
... I've finally learned how to pronounce his name! Boot-a-judge.... Hmmm...yeah, some of those Republican judges... It's Maltese. Malta has its own ethnic group, from Arab origins.
bravenak
(34,648 posts)Maybe he will run in 2020 for pres, I think he can now at 35. I find him likeable and think he could win liberals and indys. It would be nice to come together again
