'Real men provide, real women appreciate it' billboard draws controversy

Apparently, whoever put this billboard up is living in the 1950's. What a ridiculous billboard.

'Real men provide, real women appreciate it' billboard draws controversy

Protesters plan peaceful protest in response to the sign's message

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. —

Women are speaking out about a billboard on a North Carolina interstate that they find offensive.

The sign reads, "Real men provide, Real women appreciate it." The billboard belongs to Whiteheart Outdoor Advertising and is near the westbound lanes of Business 40 and Linville Road, between Winston-Salem and Greensboro.

"I take it as a very deliberate jab at women who demand equality and demand to be seen as equals and are vocal," said Molly Grace, who has organized a protest in response to the sign. "So to me it's also a very blatant about wanting to silence women and tell them to just accept the way that things are." Grace, who owns Kleur, a boutique business in downtown Winston-Salem, has created a Facebook event to protest what the sign represents. She said they're not protesting the fact that the sign exists, but the message behind the sign, and believes the sign represents a mindset that should not be acceptable in today's society.

On Facebook, organizers of the demonstration stated, "We are protesting patriarchy and sexism, and that this antiquated way of thinking about women exists at all. We are protesting the implied demand that women be silent and appreciate, regardless of whatever circumstances, their role as non-providers."

They want to get women prepared for what is coming...the end of public education and legal abortion, even the right to use birth control will put women squarely back in the kitchen with more children to look after and responsibility for their education...probably with online learning.

Whiteheart Outdoor Advertising would be the billboard company.

The billboard was purchased by a company that wishes to remain nameless, Whiteheart said. It went up Friday and will remain for about 30 days.

6. My "Real Man" tried to kill me

So I left him. He shut down his business and took a minimum wage job at his best friend Porch mechanic shop (wink, wink) so when the court ordered child support he only had to pay 330.00 per month for two kids.

So this "real woman" worked more than 40 hours per week an raised her children with little or no support.

This is why we need equality. Many of us cannot (or maybe choose not to) rely on the men in our lives. Had I not had some confidence I could support myself and my children I would likely be dead. Maybe if my earnings were on par with the men I might not have had to work more that 40 hours a week to pull it off.

barefoot and pregnant" is this administrations and it's male KKKristian supporters wet dream. They are not there yet, but better believe they are feverishly working on getting there. Uppity POC, independent women and all the rest of the 'others'/undesirables watch your backs. With the ascension of the triumvirate ruling this country now...things are moving faster than the media lets on and in most cases surreptitiously. White militias will not be watched now, white hate groups who quietly go about their hateful business WILL NOT be bothered. Keep your powder dry. I feel it coming down the pike!!!!!!!

just like the millions of us who are slowly waking up to the reality of the racist, sexist triumvirate ruling our country now. WE rule our country by saying NO!!!! to hate, bigotry, ignorance, misogyny and male KKKristian dominance. Powder? Enough out here to keep dry. on edit: I am 69 , still willing and somewhat able to fight and shout NO!!!
