Aside from the clearly anti-democratic nature of that statement, the message to US is GOTV!

The recent demonstrations and the organizing going on at the local level have them shaking in their boots.
Good.

(58,618 posts)a LOT of work to be done, though. It takes a lot of stamina and dedication to carry it through. Once the enthusiasm of the last few weeks starts to wane, and it will, the real work begins, and only the truly dedicated will stick with it through the '18 election and beyond.

(36,926 posts)I think on-the-ground activists in all 50 states will have to take the challenge. The current Repuke controlled Congress and executive will do NADA to protect the vote.

(146,281 posts)I can't do anything about any state where I am not a resident. It's going to be up to people who live in each state to make sure that people can vote who want to vote. It's also important to get people to the polls, make sure people are registered, and assist them with voting laws in each state.
It's a state-by-state thing, and only those who live in a state can change their own state's rules and practices.

(146,281 posts)I know that other states are not as good, but I also know that we can help people in our own states to get properly registered and help them vote in elections. That's what we need to do, and we need to do it better than we did in 2016. It's a local thing, though. It's impossible to help people in states where we do not live. All elections are local. They're district-by-district, county-by-county, and state-by-state. We all need to work locally to GOTV for every election.

(36,926 posts)I'm in Kansas, where there has been demonstrable evidence of voting machine fraud.
MineralMan
(146,281 posts)Have lawsuits been filed in your state courts about that? Any registered voter in Kansas would have standing in court on such an issue. If there's good evidence of such fraud, maybe the ACLU would be interested in assisting Kansas voters with such a suit. I have to admit that I know very little about election practices in Kansas.

Between 2012 and 2016, there was a HUGE increase in the number of registered voters. However, people that actually turned out to vote did not increase by a similarly huge margin. We need all those newly registered voters to get out and VOTE!!!
