George W. Bushs Daughter Barbara To Headline Planned Parenthood Fundraiser

Huffington Post

Barbara Pierce Bush, the daughter of former President George W. Bush, will headline a Planned Parenthood fundraiser in North Texas on Wednesday.

She will be the keynote speaker at Planned Parenthood of Greater Texas’ annual Fort Worth luncheon, helping to raise money for an organization that provides an array of reproductive and sexual health services, including abortions.

Bush’s public appearance before the group is striking, given that her father, President George W. Bush, was a staunch abortion opponent during his time as Texas governor and as president.

But it’s not entirely unexpected. Bush’s mother, former First Lady Laura Bush, has expressed support for the legality of abortion on a handful of occasions. The younger Bush, the CEO and co-founder of Global Health Corps, called Planned Parenthood an “exceptional organization” in a June New York Times interview, and attended a fundraiser for Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton in Paris in October.

I'm pretty damn reluctant to give Dubya credit for anything, but you do have to give him credit for that. I'm actually beginning to think that with a different vice-president, he could have made a mediocre president.

I'm not excusing what W did but I think his mistakes were more out of ignorance than malice.

Basically, without "Dick" I believe he would have been "just a guy" as far as President's go.

Not great, not horrible...but just there.

This is proof that smart republicans recognize the good that comes from PP. it's those narrow minded religious kooks that are truly the enemy of the American people.

Edit: wait...is "smart republican" an oxymoron?

The guy was a sociopath. He mocked dead soldiers to their mothers' faces, joked about hanging MLK Jr, started a war that killed hundreds of thousands of people, made fun a blind reporter...not to mention all the serious impeachable actions he took like illegally ordering torture and lying to Congress.

That has no bearing on his children though. Just like Reagan.

in a Walgreens parking lot, when we had first moved to Texas. They parked directly in front of me front to front. This was when they were staying at grandma and poppies house , on time out after being naughty and appearing drunk in the National Enquirer.

They seemed like normal kids to me. And good on Barbara.
