Huffington PostBarbara Pierce Bush, the daughter of former President George W. Bush, will headline a Planned Parenthood fundraiser in North Texas on Wednesday.
She will be the keynote speaker at Planned Parenthood of Greater Texas annual Fort Worth luncheon, helping to raise money for an organization that provides an array of reproductive and sexual health services, including abortions.
Bushs public appearance before the group is striking, given that her father, President George W. Bush, was a staunch abortion opponent during his time as Texas governor and as president.
But its not entirely unexpected. Bushs mother, former First Lady Laura Bush, has expressed support for the legality of abortion on a handful of occasions. The younger Bush, the CEO and co-founder of Global Health Corps, called Planned Parenthood an exceptional organization in a June New York Times interview, and attended a fundraiser for Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton in Paris in October.

Agreed, Mendocino! Glad to see she's stepping forward like this. Her sister Jenna has always gotten all the attention, I know not why. Because blonde?

(904 posts)I'm not excusing what W did but I think his mistakes were more out of ignorance than malice.
Basically, without "Dick" I believe he would have been "just a guy" as far as President's go.
Not great, not horrible...but just there.

This is proof that smart republicans recognize the good that comes from PP. it's those narrow minded religious kooks that are truly the enemy of the American people.
Edit: wait...is "smart republican" an oxymoron?

He mocked dead soldiers to their mothers' faces, joked about hanging MLK Jr, started a war that killed hundreds of thousands of people, made fun a blind reporter...not to mention all the serious impeachable actions he took like illegally ordering torture and lying to Congress.
That has no bearing on his children though. Just like Reagan.

They seemed like normal kids to me. And good on Barbara.
