She says that she will remain on the Supreme Court for as long as she can.
POST SCRIPT: I'm sorry. I did not mean to scare anyone with the headline. Hope all's forgiven.

(1,180 posts)She needs to stay alive and keep her seat on the Court. She probably wouldn't want my brain, though. Hers is much smarter than mine.

(322 posts)He followed up with something like: And if she does die you have to put a pair of sunglasses on her and and carry her around like weekend at Bernie's. Also don't forget Kennedy and Breyer...Jesus...Forget about his policy's while in office there is a possibility that he could shape the supreme court for a generation...

(6,181 posts)1. She is a wonderful Supreme Court Justice. Her stands have made America better.
2. Having said that she should have left immediately after Obama was re-elected to his second term. Giving him a chance to fill her seat with a younger justice.
3. I would hope she can stay until the court gets balanced again. But that would remain long shot statistically.
4. Praying she lives to be at least 100. And continues to have a sharp mind.
5. Finally democrats should block all Trump nominees until Merrick Garland gets his hearing and vote. President Obama's SCOTUS seat was stolen by McConnell and the GOP.

(37,648 posts)She's really old and is not in good health. I don't mean to be disrespectful, but I would have preferred her to have left years ago, so that the Dems could nominate a replacement
She's 83, past the normal life expectancy of females born in the 1930s. She has had colon cancer, pancreatic cancer, and heart trouble. At a certain age, all people start losing their mental sharpness. She's very tough and determined, but the body starts breaking down at a certain age for all humans.
OTOH, even if she'd retired, it's doubtful that Obama could have gotten confirmation for another justice equally liberal to Justice Ginsburg.
I hope she makes it another four years, at least. If she doesn't, the Republicans will put an extremist conservative in, and that's all she wrote.

(1,917 posts)but the flesh is weak. She is in her mid eighties and her health has been shitty. You should have retired during Obama's terms Ruthy. Now trump will be in power for at least four and maybe up to eight more years. God save us all.
