The Trump White House is pressuring Congress and the FBI to drop the Russian investigation...

..and to declare that there is nothing there.

Trump has talked to both Nunes, the Chair of the House Committee, and Burr, the Chair of the Senate Committee, to get them to talk to different reporters in order to persuade them that there is nothing to the Russian leaks story. (These are probably FOX and Breitbart reporters) This was reported by Rachel Maddow tonight.

Also, the Trump White House, perhaps Trump himself, persuaded Reince Preibus to talk with the top officials of the FBI, including James Comey. They need to get this story behind them and they requested that the FBI refute the evidence that might have been in the phone calls of General Michael Flynn. The FBI refused, even though Preibus had said that he was told that the NY Times story was not accurate.

Of course, the smartest man in the world, Donald J Trump, may have biased any hearing that might take place in the House or Senate, by his actions of interfering with both the FBI and Congressional investigations. Their only option may be an independent investigation?

Many of the Republicans seem to think there is no cause for an investigation, anyway. Just because the Russians interfered in our electoral process, hacked the DNC computers, leaked the emails to Wikileaks, and verified by 17 intelligence agencies, and used by the Trump campaign for the campaign against Hillary Clinton. As if that is not enough to investigate?

They then were having communications, before they took office, with Russian intelligence and other officials, including the Russian ambassador. The FBI intercepted the call of Michael Flynn with the Russian official. And the Republicans still insist there is nothing to investigate? After all, Michael Flynn has been fired, they say.

Right-wing talk radio, including Rush Limbaugh, are insisting that the Trump White House get a handle on the Russian story and quickly. No doubt, James Comey is under immense pressure as we speak. His arm is probably very sore from the extreme twisting by the Trump White House?

What will Comey do? Will he bend to the pressure from the Trump White House, perhaps with a threat, and declare that there is not enough evidence to pursue an investigation? Or will he be a profile in courage? After his inept and traitorous actions against Hillary Clinton, we should not get our hopes too high.

Trump just wants to wrap it up sooner rather than later.

Whatever happened to that? Should be pretty obvious whether Flynn committed a chargeable violation of the Logan Act. Last we knew they weren't even going to charge him for initially misleading them. Is that thread dead?

Then McCabe approaches Priebus, and supposedly tells him that reports of collusion are overstated? WTF?
And it has been at least a week since it was last reported 'they hadn't yet found evidence of collusion', although the Senate Committee then brought Comey in for updates.

Someone better get control of this mess.

Flynn was fired because he did not tell VP Pence about the phone call with the Russian. At least, that was the reason given? Maybe Pence knew all along? Who knows?

Why did Comey go meet with Preibus? Do they usually meet with the subject of an investigation to give them an update?

They have already shown their colors.

Does he have the steel in his spine to stand up to Donald Trump?
