searches for flights to the US down 7-17%

After 9-11 the hospitality and travel industry I worked in took a huge hit. This may be worse. Part time jobs in areas that depend on foreign and domestic travel will be affected the most by this administrations (insert appropriate expletive here____ actions. Those who are the most vulnerable, again, will be adversely impacted.

that people who have to travel to the US for work buy temporary, prepaid phones to bring with them instead of hoping the customs people they encounter on this side are still professional instead of all Trumped up. Laptops are a lot more problematic, so I've suggested they remove the batteries so they can ship them here, bypassing customs. They can carry them home without any problems.

Trump just gave goons permission to be all-out goons. Once he's gone, they're going to be goons without jobs. It can't happen soon enough. It's getting embarrassing as hell to be an American even though a majority of us had much better sense than to vote for a narcissistic ignoramus.

The Travel Press is Reporting the 'Trump Slump,' a Devastating Drop in Tourism to the United States

Experts across the travel industry are warning that masses of tourists are being scared away from visiting the United States, and the loss of tourism jobs could be devastating.

Though they may differ as to the wisdom of the move, the travel press and most travel experts are of one mind: They are currently drawing attention to an unintended consequence of the Trump-led efforts to stop many Muslims from coming to the U.S., pointing to a sharp drop in foreign tourism to our nation that imperils jobs and touristic income.

It’s known as the “Trump Slump.” And I know of no reputable travel publication to deny it.

Thus, the prestigious Travel Weekly magazine (as close to an “official” travel publication as they come) has set the decline in foreign tourism at 6.8%. And the fall-off is not limited to Muslim travelers, but also extends to all incoming foreign tourists. Apparently, an attack on one group of tourists is regarded as an assault on all.

As far as travel by distinct religious groups, flight passengers from the seven Muslim-majority nations named by Trump were down by 80% in the last week of January and first week of February, according to Forward Keys, a well-known firm of travel statisticians. On the web, flight searches for trips heading to the U.S. out of all international locations was recently down by 17%.

I can see all the big tourist events here in NM like the Indian Market and the Balloon Fiesta being complete frosts, none of the international people will show up.

Tourism fell off here during Stupid's tenure. Dolt45 is going to kill it stone dead.

And I don't blame anyone for staying away. I wish I could.

NO, they are NOT following the rules. YES, they are detaining ( at least temporarily ) people from countries who are WHITE. YES, they are sending back and detaining people who are not close to any of the 7 countries the dictator claims is bad. YES, some of them have dual citizenship with this country.

It's almost like they are deliberately trying to destroy our international reputation.

11. They detained my German wife at ATL 7 weeks after the election, and I was traveling with her

The CBP idiot, an immigrant himself, said there was a "mismatch" with her fingerprints.

Since her fingers were the same ones she had on her hands the last 100 times she entered the USA, his claim fell a little flat. It didn't stop him from detaining us for nearly an hour, panicking our daughter who was waiting in baggage claim not knowing what was going on.

Finally, we got to the next level, where the CBP guy looked at my wife's passport for about 30 seconds, said everything was fine, and sent us on our way.

This is unbelievable. These CBP people are behaving like vicious prison guards.

Fox, who is famous worldwide for her best-selling books including Ten Little Fingers and Ten Little Toes and Possum Magic, was en route to a conference in Milwaukee earlier this month when she was stopped.

She told the Australian Broadcasting Corporation she was questioned by border agents for two hours in front of a room full of people – an experience that left her feeling like she had been physically assaulted.

“I have never in my life been spoken to with such insolence, treated with such disdain, with so many insults and with so much gratuitous impoliteness,” Fox said.

...Fox said she was questioned over her visa, despite having travelled to America 116 times before without incident. She was eventually granted access to the country.

...Fox said she was shocked by her treatment and “couldn’t imagine” returning to the US.
