Forget that he's Muhammad Ali's son

An American born citizen, his American born mother and his American born ex-wife were detained and questioned for more than two hours on why his name is Muhammad. They were returning home from a vacation in Jamaica. Is it fascism yet?

Amazing what happened in those five tumultuous years, and the nation's view on the war in Viet Nam. In the beginning, the press wouldn't go near the name, Muhammad Ali, and in the end he was totally vindicated, and heralded as a hero.

It's white supremacy. It's promoting the belief that there is only one type of American. One type of skin color. One type of name. One type of religion. Anyone else is foreign, even if Plymouth rock landed on them.

It's infuriating. I'm brown. My family gets very similar questions on why we have Christian names. Yes, even on domestic flights. It's out of control.

I can see an increase in cross country driving in America's future.

Last year he told me he'd make another trip there in 2 years. When I asked a couple days ago when he's going, he frowned and said "Ten years."

And he's a U.S. citizen, Christian, and a supporter of Assad.

and I know people who have gone there to see the historical tourist sites as well as some Syrian-American Christian US citizens who still have family over there.

Christians and minorities support Assad because it's a secular government. In that part of the world the only choices are a secular dictatorship or a religious theocracy, both are bad but one is less likely to murder your family.

which I do several times a year, the asshole border guard looked at my passport... which must have entry stamps and visas from at least 15 countries, and said, "So, you were in Oman !"

Before I got out the words. fuck you shit head," I said, "yes."

She asked why was I there. Without giving away too much info here, I basically said I was there at the personal invitation of a Colonel in the ROYAL GUARD OF OMAN. That almost stopped her in her racks.
But not quite.
After a couple other explanations, I was let in to the wonderful US of A.

After I got back on the bus, I did say "Fuck you, asshole." And felt a little better, but not much.

Any idea how many citizens in that situation there are? Last time we came back from a cruise in the Caribbean all Customs said was HOLD UP your US Passports. Did not check your NAMES to see if they were not Anglo/Saxon sounding. Next? Anything that remotely sounds Hispanic????

This has got to STOP. America is not Nazi Germany.

and a lot of them have horror stories of trying to come back across the border after going to Mexico on business or pleasure. They were here thousands of years before the Spanish showed up and even longer before the Anglos showed up and their skin color makes nitwit border guards think "Mexican, trying to pass." Idiots!

This bullshit has been happening forever for some people. It's just been ramped up and extended to more, like that writer of childrens' books from Australia who was grilled for two hours, probably because some goon was bored and wanted to practice on somebody.

However, some of this has gone on forever. Check some of the comments at the story at abc.au: http://www.abc.net.au/news/2017-02-25/mem-fox-detained-at-los-angeles-airport-by-us-officials/8303366
