The important thing is that it gets a good administrator/manager who understands the importance of grassroots organizing and can pull the party together. I think either candidate could do that. I'm leaning a bit toward Ellison because he's my Congressman and I know what a good organizer he is, but if he doesn't get it that would be OK too, because then he could keep being my Congressman.

Personally, I like Keith Ellison, as well. I have not met him, but since he represents my neighboring district, I have followed him closely, along with my own representative Betty McCollum. In either position, he will continue to do an excellent job. I also have great respect for Perez, whose record is outstanding as well.

Either person will be an excellent DNC chair. Good luck to them both.

We have to unite as a party. Some people will leave pissed, but they were never with us to begin with. This situation is dire, we must unite to defeat these morons at every avenue, local, state and federal. We cannot let them have 4 years or they will destroy our country.

is probably not thinking about the success of the party as a whole. I regret that some are so personality oriented that they feel that way. The DNC chair is a position that will support ALL Democratic candidates. That is what the job entails. I feel certain that either man would do that effectively, so I have no real preference between them.

The closest third place candidate got only 12 votes. Both of the leaders have 200 or more.

Perez 213.5
Brown 12
Warren 0
Ellison 200
Mayor Pete 1
Ms. Green 0.5
Pekofsky 0

Reality is important in politics. That's what I deal with, to be quite frank.

The presidential election, too, was binary. Third party candidates can only act as spoilers. Sorry, but that's the truth.

"Indivisible" efforts right now. I HOPE awe can expand on it and keep it ALIVE all the way to November 2018! It's going to be difficult to keep the energy up for almost 2 years, but it's imperative that we do to eliminate that darn lack of voting by Dems during non0-presidential years.

I have met Ellison on a couple of occasions and I like him. I just like Tom Perez a great deal more due to his his work on voting rights. Perez rebuilt the Civil Rights and the voting rights sections of the DOJ. This article was cited on another thread but his quote makes me smile http://prospect.org/article/subtle-force-tom-perez

In October of 2009, Perez was finally confirmed and set out to reform a division in disarray. Under Bush, the division was accused of ousting career prosecutors who were insufficiently conservative and punishing those who didn’t leave. In his early months, it reportedly wasn’t uncommon for staffers to break down in Perez’s office as they recalled the trauma. Within a year, Perez turned around morale and transformed the division into a formidable enforcement machine.

To me Perez is well suited to fight GOP voter suppression

who will become DNC chair. It's a position that involves working to get Democrats elected. Perez seems qualified to do that, and appears to have lots of energy to devote to the job. I think he was a fine choice, and I'm relieved that Keith Ellison will keep being the representative from my neighboring district. I like that a lot.
