Americans Like Alec Baldwin's Trump Better Than the Real Thing: Poll

Who can blame them?

Donald Trump hates Alec Baldwin’s impression of him. That puts Donald Trump in the minority.

According to a new poll from Morning Consult, a majority of Americans, 52 percent of adults, say they’ve enjoyed watching Baldwin parody—though just barely—the cartoon that is Trump. The most recent poll shows Trump’s approval rating, already at a record low when he took office, has plummeted to just 38 percent. That means Baldwin’s Trump parody is more liked than the real deal.

Thirty-three percent of those polled agreed with the statement, “I have enjoyed the impersonations of the members of President Trump's administration and I would like to see more of them.” Another 19 percent said that while they’ve gotten a good laugh out of the Trump spoofs, they “would like SNL to focus on something else.” That last group of people either don’t know how long a presidential term is or have no idea how "Saturday Night Live" works.

The notoriously thin-skinned Trump has not been a good sport about Baldwin’s impression. Despite having never tweeted denouncements of anti-Semitic attacks, anti-Muslim terrorism or Russian election meddling, Trump has rage-tweeted about "Saturday Night Live" at least once a month since last October
