Where is Alan Grayson when we need him?
And, no, I do not intend to watch that so-called person attempt at being important.
Will probably have to skip any news show for two days. Could not stand all the reports about his screaming at the so-called conservative gatherings. Why does he have to shout, I asked spouse. The reply was: well, you remember who else used to shout to the masses, back in the 30s...

(58,785 posts)than Republicans -- as styled in the false equalization practiced by most so-called "unbiased" media?
Or as proof that we're hostile hooligans far worse than the virtuous right? Because that's how right-wing media would style it.
I don't mind at all yelling at him from the street, happy to see it, in fact; but frankly, the very idea of the same at our SOTU disgusts me, and since I'm not all that sensitive I'm pretty sure many millions across the spectrum would be also.

(115,587 posts)He loves attention, even negative attention, because he can use it to inflame his deplorable base. Better to ignore him altogether. I'd love it if the Dems in Congress didn't show up at all.

(146,254 posts)even more appropriate. However, our Democrats in Congress are unlikely to do anything like that. They are good, honest, courteous people who have the best interests of our country at heart.

(17,154 posts)The teabaggers would start booing, the Democrats would applaud, the gallery would start throwing things, fights on the floor would start, pandemoniun would reign, and much hilarity would ensue.
The SS would herd 45 out to his secret bathroom at Mar-A-Loco, where he would tweet his little brains out and just send a letter to Congress yearly for the rest of his term.
I'd love to see it, but I don't think it'll happen. I can dream, though.

(21,055 posts)That said I will not be watching his state of the union speech. You know he's going to say America is in bad shape after the poor leadership of the last eight years. He will say we are not respected in the world(which is now because of him) and only he can make AMerica great again.
See, I already got his speech so we don't have to watch it.

(32,074 posts)That's assuming they can bring their phones into the chamber. They can all tell him that he lies, without having to resort to lowering themselves to Joke Wilson's level, and interrupting his SOTU. I think the sight of nearly half of the Congress staring at their cell phones, rather than paying attention to him would be sufficient insult, as it is. But, having the messages waiting for him when he gets home would be even better.
I will not be watching, either. I hope the ratings are in the toilet.

(53,410 posts)But he won't be doing his rally schtick if that's what you mean.
He will be reading from a teleprompter the entire time. And we'll know he's reading because he can't take his eyes of one teleprompter and his reading skills are bad enough that he hesitates in the wrong places. In other words he can't read ahead of what he's saying so when the line on the teleprompter comes to an end he hesitates and then reads the next line until it ends. His reading skills are really bad. Probably at some grade school level.
He is only confrontational in his rallies when he's in the presence of people who love that shit and in the wee hours of the morning when he tweets. Otherwise when have you ever seen him get pugnacious with anyone in person? He's a coward.

(28,243 posts)And spare me the standard "We Democrats must not sink to the level of republican thug behavior" sentiment, OK? That sort of good behavior wins us no awards anymore, and does nothing in the way of effectively fighting our enemies. The louder and angrier our behavior, the better.

(1,606 posts)Would have to be supported and no fucking apologies. Whatever is said would have to become a battle cry to help unite us all. "you lie" or "lock him up" or whatever.
I disagree with the "we are better than that" passive behavior, because frankly the fascists have manipulated that to their advantage. They expect us to be docile and allow them to keep on lying and fucking us over while they make up outrageous lies and boldly commit crimes that go un-checked and unpunished.
Any acts of resistance like this would be great.

(54,286 posts)The whole Democratic contingent breaking out in spontaneous fits of laughter every time Trump says something ridiculous.
THAT would unsettle Trump (and piss off Trump, McTurtle and Ryan) more than anything like a planned "you lie!" which they are undoubtedly expecting, as he undoubtedly intends to do exactly that.
