Huffington PostWhite House deputy press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders declined to assure Americans on Sunday that anyone currently covered under the Affordable Care Act would not lose their coverage under President Donald Trumps health care plan.
Sanders repeatedly dodged the question on ABCs This Week, saying Trump had promised to repeal Obamacare and replace it with something thats better.
Host George Stephanopoulos pressed Sanders on why, if Trump was so intent on replacing the law with something better, the White House couldnt guarantee that everyone currently with insurance wouldnt lose it. Sanders said it was a goal to make sure people didnt lose coverage, but she stopped short of saying people would be able to keep their current insurance, or would even be offered similar plans.
We cannot survive under the current system, Sanders said. We have to make a massive overhaul to the health care system in America, because it is simply just not sustainable, and everybody agrees with that.
There is nobody that argues that were on a track that we can maintain, she continued. So were looking at every possible way to do exactly that: repeal a terrible, failed system and replace with something better.
When Stephanopoulos pressed again whether that meant Trump wouldnt sign a replacement bill that would cause people to lose coverage, Sanders said she wouldnt speak specifically for the president on that topic.

(2,434 posts)best the WH had to offer today. Chuck Todd said they asked for an admin spokesperson and the best they were offered was a deputy ps. He said no. Guess they'll have an easier time throwing a deputy under the bus and/or refuting them and/or saying they didn't understand. Cagey aren't they? (yes, that's sarcastic)

(38,414 posts)Why do I think that?....What the House of Representatives will come up with will be too radical a change. It will take only 3 Republican senators to deny passage of that..and yes, I think 3 of them will stand up at the time..
You won't hear it now, and oh...Dumpf is going to talk and tweet...but...........when the time comes, I honestly believe 3 will take a stand and this shit will stop.
