These Iowans voted for Trump

By Jenna Johnson
February 26 at 6:30 PM

... “I didn’t think he would come in blazing like he has,” said Godat, 39, who has three kids and works at the same aluminum rolling plant where his father worked. “It seems almost like a dictatorship at times. He’s got a lot of controversial stuff going on and rather than thinking it through, I’m afraid that he’s jumping into the frying pan with both feet” ...

“He’s really hurting us, even though everybody around here is conservative,” Schurbon said, thumping his bottle of Budweiser on the table to emphasize some of his points. “When you cut off trade, that cuts off everything. Where do our crops go? They don’t stay here” ...

Ring agreed: “We have to be adults and whoever is elected, we’re going to have to follow them.”

Ring paused and then added: “But he’s very hard to follow.”

feeling the fruits of their vote yet.

Just wait till there is no food on the table, and then let's see if they are still saying, "Whoever is elected, we're going to have to follow them."

President Trump is doing what he said he'd do. Did you good people in Iowa think Trump was just talking about a trade war involving Democratic-stronghold states? Where are your crops going to go? And who's going to bring that crop in when everyone's too scared of being a target of ICE to work the fields?

Sounds great on the campaign trail but many forget that there are millions of people dependent upon NAFTA and millions of people that rely on Obamacare.
They are both very complicated issues.
That's why simple campaign slogans are deceiving.
The farmers are going to take a huge hit.
The day after trump was elected there were many here in Texas that were expecting that doing away with NAFTA was just campaign rhetoric because surely he understands the importance of it. Doesn't he??

A WHOLE LOT worse.

As trade, jobs and healthcare disappear.

Small towns and rural areas will get nailed first.

But as commerce slows and healthcare disappears, they will see their few jobs vaporize and their small hospitals close. In urban areas, we will see an influx of rural unemployed and those seeking health services from a broken system that will be overloaded beyond recognition.

The transition to third world status is beginning.

EPA gone, SS, Medicaid, Medicare, ACA and a plethora of other programs that benefit average Americans drastically reduced or eliminated. Even more tax cuts for the ruling class and massive "defense" spending increases, which the majority of Democrats will vote for.

voting out government subsidies. I'm all for boycotting these farmers. Make them realize that they voted against the rest of the country whom they depend on.

The point is that these are the people who voted to end government support, so let them do without it. There are plenty of small, local farms to buy from. Lots of farmers' markets.

My main contention with large farms in the mid-west is that they have maybe 20 years left before they drain the Ogallala aquifer. Large farms are unsustainable. They provide jobs for only a handful of people. When we return to the dust bowl, I'm sure they will blame the Democrats.

...is a fucking piece of shit.

Everyone saw his "Grab 'em by the p****" clip.

Everyone saw him mock a reporter with a disability at one of his Nuremburg rallies.

Everyone saw his bigotry, misogyny, and narcissism.

And they voted for him anyways.

That makes them trash.

A bit satisfying. Sorry to say it, but... this isn't/wasn't a game. I'll bet they laughed and whooped it up during the debates. Let them get back to their fox news and cheap beer, they'll vote stupid again next election also.

putting up someone disliked so much (whether earned or not) that Trump seemed like a viable alternative. Now they have buyers remorse but it has a 4 year waiting period.
