"She said she saw a distinction between 'people who come over and use the system and people who actually come and help.'"

Did she really? How noble. The trouble is, she voted for a regime that saw NO distinction, and wasn't about to look for one.

Does misfortune have to befall EVERY Trump voter before they figure out what a disservice they did to our country?
(On second thought, please don't answer that)

Here's a snippet of it (that is still stuck in my mind - back from the Civil Rights/Vietnam era)

If you find something different when you take a look
Just close your mind and play it cool
It's the exceptions that prove the rule.

"I mean the clearing out of the Jews, the extermination of the Jewish race. It's one of those things it is easy to talk about - "The Jewish race is being exterminated", says one party member, "that's quite clear, it's in our program - elimination of the Jews, and we're doing it, exterminating them." And then they come, 80 million worthy Germans, and each one has his decent Jew. Of course the others are vermin, but this one is an A-1 Jew."

goes away, I guess they'll be upset too. FFS, pay attention to what is going on. It's far more than about coal. And also, guess what, coal jobs aren't coming back. Trump lied to you to get your vote. Look at the world. Is the world suddenly switching to coal as a main energy source? Trump doesn't give a damn about you. You were used by him as losers likely in his eyes, but he got your vote. Now, we're all stuck with it.

The jobs are gone because of mountaintop removal (another issue of concern) and natural gas. All coal country people are getting at this point is the chance to have polluted rivers and streams. That's what Dear Leader has done for them so far.

because the environmental regulations will be scaled back and/or not enforced. No more proper disposal of wastes - just throw it into the rivers, streams and ponds. However, it will just go into the pockets of the owners. Then, the locals will not only have to deal with black lung disease, but poisoned water and a dying environment around them.

The consumption is down so dramatically. There are several coal plants in IL mothballed because the NG plants are so much cheaper to run. And, with the nukes providing a baseload (plus of course some coal), the peaker plants are ALL NG. Turning those on in short order is so much easier and more efficient.

Even if they scale back regs on the generators, the sunk cost of the scrubbing equipment is still there. The marginal operating costs of the environmental hardware isn't going to make much of a dent in the cost of generation. Still think the consumers will go slow.

Wait for that restaurant to close and for them and their families to lose jobs. Wait for other businesses to suffer slow downs as a result. All because one guy - Carlos - was picked up in the proverbial middle of the night and taken away because of the man they voted for. The man who will not return those coal jobs. The man who will take away their health care. And their addiction services. The man who will defund Planned Parenthood so that their wives and daughters will have no maternity care. The man who will force those who can move away to move away, wreaking further despair on a community already on the way down.

Would you buy gas for your car @ $1.50 per gallon and that gas was cleaner
and it was much better for the engine in your car or buy gas @ $3.00 per gallon
and it made your car have to have expensive repairs all the time too? The same
thing goes for electric power plants because they have or will all switch to natural
gas from coal as their fuel source.
