From the Oscars to the SOTU Address.

Yes, I know, it's not really a SOTU Address, but that's not important, really. America watched the Academy Awards last night, and probably a similar number will watch DJT ramble on in his usual word salad fashion tomorrow. That's how we roll here, it seems. We go from one spectacular, if flawed, awards show to a weird reality show about how our country fails to operate in any sensible way.

I skipped the Oscars last night. I haven't been going to the movies much, and I don't really care about awards shows. I haven't decided whether to watch Trump's rantings tomorrow evening. I do follow politics closely, but I hate staged reality shows, which is what this address is likely to be. I also hate trying to interpret repetitive word salad speeches. But, it's the nation. It's our government, badly flawed as it is. So, I'll probably watch and try to avoid throwing hard objects at Trump's image on my TV.

Still, both are really just TV shows. The Oscars have little to do with anything, and neither does the SOTU or whatever they're calling what will happen tomorrow. They aren't really reality. They are a show. Will I be entertained? Not likely. Will I be informed? Almost certainly not. Will I watch? Probably. Will I learn anything? That's truly doubtful.
