Can we all call our Dem Senators and Reps and ask them to golf-clap tomorrow night?

Angry Spice just said the DicktaterTot "hopes for a very robust and applause-filled reception" from Congressional Dems tomorrow night.

Now, it would be childish and rude to sit on their hands altogether, and we certainly don't want "childish and rude" to be the face of the Party.

So I think a golf-clap is indicated, for a Chief Exec who's spent more time golfing than working in his first few weeks in office.

Don't you?

hopefully,
Bright

I have never heard that expression before.
Is it a pretend clap that doesn't make any sound? Or an almost silent polite clap?

golf clap (plural golf claps)

A sarcastic or humorous form of applause performed by lightly and rapidly clapping the fingers of one hand against the palm of the other, used to show indifference or disdain, or to show polite or quiet appreciation.

I'd never heard that term before either.

Maybe some people standing up, turning their backs, and walking out in protest at his lies would be even better.

at least not loudly so. Remember when Obama was insulted by some GOPpers during the State of the Union?

If I were attending, I would stand and sit when expected but not applaud.

I think his lies are disrespectful. What is the correct way to that level of disrespect, one where someone lies to you? Frankly, turning one's back and leaving is as about as respectful as Trump should hope for.

But a certain decorum is expected. Our political culture is coarse and divided enough. It's possible to register disapproval without being disruptive.

They should.

If someone yells, "Liar!" there is precedent for that.

I looked for a movie to go to tomorrow night. I don't like anything being offered locally, so we are going to watch a Netflix movie at home. I can't see his face or listen to his voice any more. I will find news reports of his bombast later. Otherwise, I might be sick. I can't play drinking games during the speech, because I have a dentist appointment the next morning. I don't need a hangover.
