When we came to this home, it wasn't a house; it was a stable for horses, said Bryants son, David Bravard. The roof was caving in, my dad put a window in the back of the house, we got propane tanks, we've added city water to this house.
Despite the time and money invested, Bryant has no legal right to stay there.
Bryant said there was never any written agreement. The only record she has is a notebook where she wrote down her monthly payments.

(13,340 posts)People change. There is never a guarantee that an informal agreement will persist. Legally protect yourself, especially if you are going to pour your own money into it.

(25,839 posts)means she has no recourse. Most people only ever sign a one year lease, and forever after are on month to month. Which means the landlord only needs to give them a one month notice before evicting. Crappy, but legal.
