RawstoryUnited States Attorney General Jeff Sessions on Tuesday told reporters that one reason he wants to crack down on marijuana is that theres a lot of violence that has come from legalizing the drug for recreational use in states such as Colorado.
I dont think America is going to be a better place when people of all ages, and particularly young people, are smoking pot, said the attorney general. I believe its an unhealthy practice, and current levels of THC in marijuana are very high compared to what they were a few years ago, and were seeing real violence around that *Experts are telling me theres more violence around marijuana than one would think and theres big money involved.

Violence and pot does not, let me repeat, DOES NOT go together. Can't even used in the same sentence
48 plus years of toking pretty much every single day, held down hundreds of jobs, made a killing at some of those jobs and I've not seen any violence any one time.
fuck the twerp sessions and the hate he rode in on.
Hadn't smoked any weed in a few years now due to my health but if I could I would, you can bet on that

(3,040 posts)Damn, Sessions is going to go with the refer madness excuse for banning pot?! I would like to see one -- non-right wing biased -- study that shows that there is a lot of violence caused by legalizing pot.

Strange music boxes sadly tinklin'
Drink in the sun shining all around you.

(2,955 posts)Serious question Mr Sessions. Most of the violence(not that there's much anyway) is related to the questionable legality of cannabis, and the fact that the banking system won't hold money so these businesses end up holding tons of cash.

(4,897 posts)Governments in legal states need to use those two words when dealing with Beauregard. People in those states who care about legal pot need to defend it with the same level of vigor like groups who pushed back against the federal government when it came to guns and land.

(4,492 posts)In states that legalized pot, it is an age restricted product (21), just like alcohol. So it is not legal for teens to smoke weed in a state like Colorado.

(80,708 posts)And I'm sure he's not going to talk to any of the many officials from the legal states- many of whom previously opposed legalization, but have changed their minds now that it is working and working well- to hear the truth.
His stupid argument is one of the numerous ones for legalization, anyway. Take the trade out of the black market, where it can be conducted fairly and transparently and above board. Al Capone wasn't a function of the alcohol trade, he was a product of prohibition and the fact that the alcohol trade was illegal.
