Trump just told a sobbing widow of a SEAL in the audience (the man whose father questioned Trump) that her husband is happily looking down from heaven because he JUST BROKE A RECORD FOR APPLAUSE. APPLAUSE. I am not joking! Trump kept applauding and applauding awkwardly, and then as that poor woman sobbed (and clearly wanted to sit down) told her that her husband is "smiling" down from heaven because he BROKE A RECORD for applause.

That is the man, folks. THIS MAN THINKS A DEAD SERVICEMAN EQUALS APPLAUSE.

The manipulation of the guests in the audience is the ugliest that I've ever seen a "president" do -- of course presidents bring guests that have suffered losses, represent an important issue, etc -- but the way Trump is BLATANTLY USING these people, who look EXTREMELY stressed out and unhappy, is just disgusting. That was one of the ugliest moments I've ever seen in one of these speeches. What a horrible shallow monster.

I flipped to CNN to check in and that's what I was met with. I just flipped on the sound again a bit ago and Van Jones was essentially saying that Dems should be happy that Trump showed a faint glimmer of being presidential. Jennifer Granholm then handed him his ass by pointing out a few of the lies in Trump's speech.

Yeah, I know what you mean about using DU. I don't have FoxNews (and wouldn't flip it on if I did. Not even on a double-dog dare). Luckily, other DUers have a stronger stomach and are willing to dive into the sewer for the common good.

I've been there. My previous husband died suddenly at a relatively young age. I know what that grief feels like and I know how everything is overwhelming and cloudy and surreal. the sound cut out in a persistent pattern. About every 0.7 seconds the sound of the applause would clip. I'm not a sound engineer, but it seemed as if the pickup of the applause was maxed out and was clipping out was because a distortion circuit was briefly shutting off the audio. I've heard that pattern before.
