The most disgraceful moment in trump's speech.

I posted this elsewhere, about my main takeaway from trump's speech besides the general "how can you believe ANYTHING he says, because of how much and how consistently he lies" -

That baldly exploitive moment regarding the grieving widow.

The widow of that Navy SEAL who died in the failed Yemen raid. She got a LOT of applause. But after awhile, I started to feel bad for her. Dammit, people, let her be. QUIT making a spectacle of the grieving widow - who sat briefly but then stood as the applause continued, her whole face red, as she started to cry. Below her eyes it was all swollen, her nose as well, she looked Heaven-ward, several times, mouthing what looked like "I love you, baby." And it just went on and on and on and on and on. And then trump made some tawdry comment about what a record-breaker that was in the applause-meter department, and the clapping started all over again, and once again went on and on and on and on. SHEESH. It really started to bother me. I felt terrible for her.

I felt as though all those trump-worshipping hypocrites assumed that if they just applauded a lot, that would somehow absolve them from any guilt or collusion with trump's piss-poor decision that he tossed out so casually while he was at dinner. And NO, folks, it won't. And you can clap all night long for her and make a spectacle of her grief to make yourselves feel all noble and altruistic and publicly compassionate and kind-looking. So are you gonna take away her health care then? How 'bout veterans benefits that she surely should have coming now that her husband's been killed in action? You gonna help her raise those kids alone? Or are you gonna nickel-and-dime her with all kinds of excuses about the burgeoning deficit from all those entitlements you don't want to have to pay for because you've just got to help those poor put-upon rich people get bigger tax cuts (or beef up the military so MORE young husbands like hers can go get killed, leaving their grieving widows to become fodder for being USED like this as a cheap applause line for political benefit)? You gonna pass any bills or maybe start a GoFundMe for her now, since she's left on her own with a family to take care of? I bet she'd trade all that phony-ass over-wrought, disgracefully maudlin, and ENTIRELY MEANINGLESS applause to be home watching the speech with her husband who was still alive.

THAT little episode just STUNK. I felt so bad for her. You could tell she didn't want the attention, especially having to stand there crying her eyes out on national television, so terribly vulnerable, looking upward to the spirit of her husband to help her find the strength, being used in front of all America to make these heartless scheming assholes feel better about themselves. What a disgrace. I found myself mumbling "leave that poor woman ALONE! She's not some reality show character to be trotted out as the object-du-jour for public pity."

SHAME on them all for exploiting her like that.

I lost my father in the Vietnam war and believe me, phony, hypocritical applause and platitudes don't even come near making it up. I at least got to grow up and move on with my life and blossom into adulthood. This was her partner, her soul mate I can't even begin to comprehend her unique pain and sorrow and for trump to shamelessly exploit her for a rating grab is beyond shameful. Fuck him and may he burn in hell!

Yep. I'd say send Ouday 2.0 and Qusay 2.0 into battle. Let them put some skin in the game.

That always bothered me about Romney, too. FIVE sons. Count 'em. FIVE. Adult. Able-bodied. Available to serve. FIVE OF 'EM. And not a single one of 'em had enlisted in the military. Of course, Daddy sure didn't either (so why should they?). And to say you "served" either "in the private sector" (WTF????? What the Fucking FUCK?????????) or because you hid out, conveniently doing missionary work - in PARIS FRANCE no less - during Vietnam, I'm sorry. That doesn't make it.

If you claim the right to be the leader whose job includes sending other people's sons and daughters into harm's way, especially if you're of the GOP (the party that seems to love shaking one's figurative dick around at the rest of the world) you damn well better have helped lift that load in your own family, too.

May she never again be made a spectacle for the benefit of anyone else

Gee, a friend and I were just discussing spray-tanning, which she's dabbled in, strictly for special occasions. We both, simultaneously, blurted - "like trump - with the white "goggles" around his eyes all the time" and then burst out laughing.

There could be a series of these!

Orange is the new ________.

Bullshit.

Hatred.

Selfish.

Un-American.

Hypocrisy.

Piss-ant.

Liar. (Multiple derivations of this one. You need a noun. Falsehood. Lies. Deception. etc.)

Anarchy.

Bait-n-Switch.

They did such a good deed by clapping that long, I'm sure they feel like they're all patriotic and empathic now.

In reality their empathy is uniquely shallow and brittle. They have no idea, so this artifice is the best they can do.

don't allow Trump to use his dead son as a prop. Demand accountability from the asshole who approved a military operation that never should have been approved, just so trumpie can crow and self aggrandize as usual, even though he did not even care about the Seal enough to monitor from the situation room, opting to tweet about his upcoming interview on CBN.

Now they've actually allowed, unbelievably, trumpie to use the situation as a political tool. Unfuckingbelievable.
