I've avoided the cable news this AM, but it does seem that since Trump got through his speech last night without crapping his pants or literally grabbing a p*$$y onstage, he's being hailed as "presidential". Apparently Van Jones got all weepy, and now the reign of President Trump can truly being.

Here's my concern- I'm guessing his poll numbers are going to go up now. An awful lot of people are clearly uninformed, and if they hear how well Trump did, they'll assume he's OK now, and his support will build. If something terrible were to happen soon- ie a 9/11 or even a San Bernardino type event- the public will rally around Trump like they did around the Idiot-in-Chief on 9/11, and go along with any insane crap he EO's. It seems to me we are in a very dangerous time for now, moreso than since the inauguration.

Am I overthinking this?

and showing the world what an incompetent asshole he is. Congress will not pass his budget. It's dead on arrival. There may be a few thousand jobs here and there, but not the millions of jobs promised. Grocery bills will go up, because few people to pick lettuce, grapefruit, grapes, etc. The tourist industry is already hurting. If people get their healthcare yanked away, there will be a loud outcry, such as you've never heard.

Plus there will be more and more revelations about his traitorous love affair with, and money-laundering for Putin and the Russian oligarchs. I promise you that there has been no pivot, just another BS con job. The best predictor of future behavior is past behavior. haven't you heard the expression that a leopard cannot change his spots?
