If You're Dismayed about the Reception for Trump's Speech,

don't stress out too much. He'll be right back to his normal idiocy today. Apparently, he can read a prepared speech. Someone wrote him a speech that mollified some in the media. Very shortly, though, he'll be back out uttering his usual word salad blather in his own words.

Besides, the fact-checking has begun to come in, and his lies and misstatements in last night's speech are being called out today. Don't despair. It was just one speech, and people forget quickly.

Well, it's a weird world we live in, I guess. But, analysis of his speech is underway, and it's not going to look as good as it sounded after people really study the speech.

I listened to it last night on the radio, instead of watching it. As he spoke, I was thinking about what he said, compared to what is actually factual. The speech was written to sound a certain way, but the underlying plans tell a different story. Put simply, he lied continuously for over an hour.

Fact-checkers will fact check, so actual info will be out there. Trump's a liar and the people that know that still know it.

We already know when presented with facts, a lot of people double-down on their ignorance since their ignorance is comfortable and conforms to what they want to believe.

Pretty much, the status-quo, as it were, hasn't changed because of that speech.

I expected the GOP to do their best in the overkill with their clapping and applause. They did.

I was surprised Shrump didn't stray as much as I thought he would. But that's kind of meaningless. Anyone thinking that was a pivot or a show of unity has such a low bar that they are, themselves, belly crawlers.

about the attempts to normalize tRump. The thing I have to remind myself is that underneath it all is a very sick, flawed person. He can no more pivot or become presidential than the leopard can change its spots. He can disguise himself, hide his true self for a SHORT time using someone else's words and recommendations. But he will always revert to who he is at his core.

I am holding out hope that the people digging for information about ALL of trump's nefarious dealings will continue their work in spite of efforts to repackage him into something...ahem....more suitable to the job of President of the U.S.

Until then, I thank you for reminding us that he is who he is and morphing into a decent human being for tRump is the one thing he can't buy, fake or pretend for long.

I don't know what possessed Van Jones but I hope he's cringing this morning, sort of like when you wake up after a bender and realize that last night you drunk-dialed your ex, sobbing that you were wrong about him/her and would he/she please please please take you back? (I've never done that, btw; I'm more inclined toward sober thoughts of bloody revenge).

But anyhow, Trump is what he is, and that's a narcissistic blowhard with the world's thinnest skin and a mean streak a mile wide, and he'll soon be back to what is normal for him (and off-the-charts nuts for most other people). The speech wasn't a "pivot"; it was the result of his handlers coming up with a speech that was slightly less apocalyptically terrifying than the last one; stuffing it in the teleprompter and commanding him to read it as written or else President Bannon wouldn't let him sit at the big desk and the White House chef would cook his steaks medium rare and without ketchup.

Nothing has changed, except maybe that Van Jones will have to hide for a couple of weeks until Twitter forgets what an ass he made of himself.
