He would agree with what I (the design engineer) was saying and then talk to the contractor and agree with what he was saying even if what we were proposing was 180 degrees apart. When we would point out that he could not agree with 2 self-contradicting agreements, he'd claim he was being fair and even-handed. That's Van Jones's problem I suspect.

I imagine that Van Jones falls for every con, scam, Nigerian prince story, swindle, phishing scam, and ploy that comes his way. He's just being fair in his mind.
