Response to fellow DUer worried about hating Trump

Last edited Wed Mar 1, 2017, 06:10 PM - Edit history (1)

There are some people on this earth that deserve to be hated. As far as I'm concerned if you lack empathy and will hurt others to get ahead you have no place in society.
Trump is the poster child of greed, ego, ignorance and scapegoating. I can remember as a kid in the 80s that this man was a joke and now the so called working man thinks he will be their savior? He hasn't done an honest days work in his life. Never had to earn anything. All he has ever done was sign papers and destroy time after time what was given to him.
Empathy isn't something we are born with. We are taught it all through our lives by our own suffering and watching others suffer. Donald Trump has never really suffered a day in his life. Even on his worst day he was still better off then 99% of the population. He won't be able to help these people because he just doesn't have the life experience to know what needs to be done.
I say never apologize for hate. It's a liberal trait that hasn't done us well over the years. Makes us look weak. Its ok to hate someone if they truly deserve it. It's ok to kill bad people. I think an eye for an eye is a great policy. I have no problem punishing violent criminals with violence. I am a progressive because I think that's the best road for society to take. I believe every person on this planet has a right to live without fear and oppression and have some basic foundation to start their lives. What they do with it after that is up to them.
If someone is against that then really what kind of human being are they? Is there a hate line? I can hate Hitler but not Trump? I just pretty much just hate them all. They are a cancer for the human race. I'm definitely glad to see more liberals standing up and growing some balls lately.

I try really fucking hard not to have that emotion but I just can't contain my hatred for that orange piece of shit any longer. I don't know why I put myself through the horror that was his speech last night, but somewhere in that hour I finally snapped. Watching him up there, smug-faced, lying, "acting" like he gives two shits about any of us, while Congress sits there, half of them clapping, it was the last slap in the face I could handle.

That giant anus and his die-hards are the worst of the worst of the worst. I only only hope I live to see him/them get what they deserve.

I will not admit publicly to some of the things I hope happen to him.

But I know that hate is destructive. I am trying to channel that hate into positive action. The hate does not hurt trump and his advisors. They only laugh at us. It hurts us and damages our health. We need to channel that emotion into action.

I am not Pollyanna. I do hate the SOB. I will not try to deny that.

The sooner we can cease our gnashing of teeth and actually get to work on getting the right people in office in 2018, the better. Part of getting the right people in office, in my opinion, is not disparaging the right with obnoxious rhetoric on a public forum, but convincing the folks that voted for them that Democrats can do it better.

I don't want to dismiss your very real feelings. I suppose I'm just trying to put the best foot forward to never see another Donald Trump elected ever again.

to want him out of office as soon a humanly possible. I don't hate him, feel sorry for him, or forgive him. I hate what he is doing the people of this country, and to the institutions that we value. It makes me sick to hear him use the office of the president to lie and boast about his imaginary or worthless "accomplishments." He disgusts me. He is everything I would raise a child not to be. But I don't hate him. He may very well do something that makes me hate him, or maybe he already has and it hasn't fully played out yet.

I agree. There's no hate line. Our bad guys are as worthy of hate as any other country's. And we have to be the ones to not let them do damage in our name.

Personally, I like anger. It's a genetic gift, and the only learning involved with it is how to channel it for solving problems.

Thanks for your post.

and not actually hate the person, knowing that something really harsh and

If you're a for-real liberal and you don't hate trump, you're basically countenancing Germany, circa 1934. That's really how bad things are at this point. trump and his henchmen are attacking everything we assign real value to in this country. How can you not hate him, and then find ways to put that hatred to good use? Please take an honest look at how things are, and where things are going, and act accordingly.

I've grown weary of the pacifism and unwillingness to engage in confrontation with "liberals". This turn the other cheek crap has cost us so much, the eagerness of the Democratic Party to "compromise" with the lunatics on the right and try to "empathize" with the hateful bigots who voted for Trump is downright sickening,I had "liberals" berating me for celebrating Richard spencer getting punched on camera, so I guess I don't consider myself a "liberal" these days but rather a leftist.

Thankfully with these recent town halls, it seems some on the left are starting to lose the koombaya crap.

But let's face it, just being progressive we are ahead of our time. A pacifist majority is a great goal to strive for but we will never come close to living to see it.
Now that being said just because you strive for something doesn't mean it's the right strategy for the here and now. We were just killing each other by the millions not that long ago in WW2. Holding up a peace sign and trying to reason with greed and power just isn't going to work. You have to have conviction for what you believe in and be willing to stand up and fight for it.
There is such a thing as justified hate. We would all probably be saluting the Nazi flag right now if it wasn't for it.

Hate can be a normal feeling - especially if it is born out of a painful betrayal from a trusted person or loved one, or incredulity over the complete bag of domestic Turkeys level of stupidity and pettiness shown by otherwise decent people in the face of reality.

But hate requires some measure of feeling or consideration of someone or something. Personally, I could care less about Drumpf and his miserable brood. I feel sorry for the youngest boy and the grandkids, but the rest of them are like cockroaches in a slum rental - I only care about the potential for disease or just having to throw out useful items because they've corrupted food and etc crawling over it and laying their nasty eggs.

They don't care about Us, so why should I waste my emotions on them. The actions they do or events they influence - that I can hate.
Otherwise, I'll save my hate for when it can do some good - when it can drive me to act.
