James Comey's boss is Jeff Sessions.

The Attorney General is in charge of the Justice Department. If the FBI had information that it wanted to make public, Jeff Sessions could squelch it if he wanted?

Donald Trump appointed Jeff Sessions his Attorney-General for a reason. It's not like he was the most obvious or competent person for the job.

There are things going on that we still do not know.

Jeff Sessions possibly has no idea what is going on and if the FBI were investigating him, Sessions may well not know a damn thing about it.
