I live in the flight path of many of the Ft Campbell training runs about 45 miles from the base. There have been at least 5 banks of copters fly over in the last couple of hours. We might get 1 or 2 flyovers in a day's time. But not this many so close together, especially at night.
Must be gearing up a war to deflect from the Russia Connection.

(10,602 posts)A typical helicopter formation in Vietnam was troop carriers in the middle and rear. Gunships were in front and on the sides.
When nearing a landing zone gunships move forward and attack in front of landing troop carriers then circle the LZ. Having been in Vietnam I would have been interested in seeing them.
Air mobile insertions of a company would include multiple formations in groups. So you email is interesting.

(10,602 posts)Apparently bone spurs are treatable and not terribly disabling.

We have occasional helicopter overflights, just unusual enough that I too wonder what the hell.

(90,758 posts)all the sitting they did a lot of the time and I would say "but you did it beautifully".
Training exercises can get ugly, as you well know. One guy came up short a grenade, everyone was on locked down until it was found. They were moved to another part of the area and guys came in to mow the grass near where the soldiers had been training - you guessed it.
They found the grenade. Fortunately - very fortunately - no serious injuries.
My eegit didn't complain about sitting that day.
This was years ago in Oklahoma at Fort Sill.
Bet you have some funny and scary stories.

(17,085 posts)They finally relented and let them back on post for Xmas. Eventually found out the M16 went out the main gate in someone's trunk.
And then there was the time we lost a 105mm howitzer round that fell out of a Chinook in flight... (It wasn't fuzed and buried itself six feet deep in a soybean field.

(2,239 posts)in Twentynine Palms, CA. tonight. Been doing so a lot the past week. I can feel the concussions from thirty plus miles away.
Gearing up for a Spring Offensive possibly.

(1,002 posts)I used to live in Colorado Springs in between Ft Carson and Peterson Air Force Base. Sometimes there would be all this aircraft up in the sky for no apparent reason. I'm an Army brat and I'd wonder if my friends in the military were being sent out on yet another deployment to Iraq or Afghanistan. On a night like tonight that would really have me wondering. As a matter of fact, I have a friend who still lives in the Springs and he told me yesterday that there's been all kinds of aircraft traffic over his house for the last few days. Wouldn't surprise me in the least if the Traitor gets us into another war so he can CYA.

(146,254 posts)Trump appears ready to do some military flag-waving, and PRNK could be a likely target, I'd think. Maybe he's planning a PRaNK on them.

(9,808 posts)in a flight path from a base in KY to a base here in Georgia (maybe Ft. Benning). I remember during the Bush years that there were a lot of big transports flying low (C-130s?) over this area during the day as well as at night. We would often see them nearly brush the treetops. When the Obama admin. came into office, they stopped. Now, they are back again at night, usually 8 or 9:00 pm, flying from north to south. My house is about 65 miles from the Atlanta airport and it is not unusual to hear air traffic overhead, but this is different.
