Poor people dont want health care just like Jesus said: GOP Rep justifies killing Medicaid

Apparently Jesus wanted poor people to die:

Rep. Roger Marshall (R-KS) thinks that there is a segment of the population that doesn’t want health care and he doesn’t want to have to pay for them.

According to an interview with STAT News, the Kansas doctor explained that the Medicaid expansion under Obamacare helps the poor but most of those people just don’t want healthcare.

“Just like Jesus said, ‘The poor will always be with us,’” he explained. “There is a group of people that just don’t want health care and aren’t going to take care of themselves.”

When pressed to clarify he simply “shrugged” and explained that the “Medicaid population” is on a “free credit card, as a group” and that those people don’t take care of themselves so they’ll end up costing taxpayers more money.

if/when they destroy the ACA. She has a very rare and dangerous inflammatory syndrome that can easily result in blindness, GI bleeding, stroke and of course, death when she has flare-ups. She needs regular medical care and expensive medication to prevent those flare ups.

There is not one single thing funny about this.

People on Medicaid are the poorest of the poor - the disenfranchised. Often they don't think they have the right to speak up and/or they don't believe that it would do any good. These are low income Americans with disabilities, the children of single Moms, and the elderly poor. They don't write letters to Congress. They don't go down to town hall when they get mad in order to complain about something. Such actions are foreign to them, and some couldn't do these things even if they tried. I have been calling the office of my republican "representative" in Congress over the ACA and Medicaid. His staffers don't give a damn. They make it clear by the tone of their voice. It's depressing as hell and little different from some sort of eugenic cleansing of an unwanted class of people. The entire thing makes me most bitterly angry. I am disabled, 65 years-old, and I live on a tiny check from SSDI. I am completely dependent on Medicaid and the way things are going, it wouldn't surprise me if I and my fellow low income Medicaid recipients were basically left to die in the streets. Certainly that is what will happen to us if that doctor in Kansas has his way.

Maybe because they can't fucking afford to go to doctors or dentists and can't afford healthful food? No, that can't be it. They just want to be unhealthy and not get health care because Jesus thinks some people are always going to be poor.

Or maybe Rep. Marshall was thinking of a different Jesus than the one I learned about in Sunday school. What fucked up church do guys like that go to?

I could care less if he has credentials, to condemn a patient because of their social standing is against everything it means to be a physician. This sick fuck is neither a Christian nor a true physician. "The poor will always be with you"...yes, but that doesn't mean fuck the poor!! This guy is disgusting

This sort of stuff needs to be broadcasted far and wide. Other republicans need to be pressed for their opinions on such thoughts. So they either need to denounce it or run with it. From a strategic standpoint, I hope they run with it. Which is scary in the immediate time because they can take decisive action that can be harmful to many in the short-term. But it would for sure go a long way toward helping neuter them in a couple years and get them all out in four.

While I'm certain a certain portion of their supporters who fall into the "medicaid population" will see this and say "Wow, you know what? He's right, I don't care about my health I'm going stop by chemo treatment or stop getting my meds to prove what a patriotic American I am.", but I'm sure there are more people who are not going to be as idiotic and they probably will eventually revolt against them.

We need to give these people more rope because they are some of their worst enemies.

What Bible is he reading? I must have missed that verse somehow. The Bible does talk about helping the poor. Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will reward them for what they have done. Proverbs 19:17.

38. The women wanted to anoint Jesus with oil.
Sun Mar 5, 2017, 03:37 PM
Mar 2017

They had been paying attention to his teachings, and they knew and understood that he would soon be put to death in fulfillment of prophesy.

Judas rebuked them, saying that the oil shouldn't be *wasted* like that. It should be sold, and the proceeds could be given to the poor.

Jesus replied that the poor would be with them always. It was a rebuke to Judas, and probably the other male disciples, who just didn't realize what was about to go down. The women understood, and they wanted to do something special for Christ while they still had him there in physical form.

It was also something of a pre-death ritual.

That is the true meaning of the comment being referenced.

35. Medicaid Not a Free Credit
Sun Mar 5, 2017, 02:49 PM
Mar 2017

First, I think anyone who works pays Medicare and Medicaid taxes. Second, as far as I know, when someone uses Medicaid the government has the right to take all there assets once they die. So the government can get some form of repayment in certain cases. If the government cannot get repayment it is because the person did not have any assets that the government could take.
