If Team Trump colluded with a hostile power to rig the US election, it's a political earthquake that makes Watergate seem like child's play.

@funder @Professing_Prof No matter how bad people think it is- it's worse. The depth of what has happened just hasn't sunk in yet.

(28,795 posts)Is the FBI Director being forthcoming enough with the intelligence committees? Mitchell asks. Sen. Coons replies, I think its important that the outcome of that counter-intelligence investigation be fully shared with the intelligence committees, both in the House and the Senate.
There are transcripts that provide very helpful, very critical insights into whether or not Russian intelligence and senior Russian political leaders, including Vladimir Putin, were cooperating, were colluding with the Trump campaign at the highest levels to influence the outcome of our election. And if that information is stonewalled or hidden away and if we are not able to get that on the Senate intelligence committee, House intelligence committee then I think that has real consequences for our democracy.
Sen. Coons then urged Director Comey to complete the investigation and share all of the products with the intelligence committees. Andrea Mitchell then asked Coons to clarify what he was saying. Do such transcripts exist? Is that what youre saying? she asked.
I have not seen them. I believe they exist, Coons replied.
So far as I know this is the first time anyone has claimed the FBI has proof of such collusion, but the general complaint about the FBI not being forthcoming enough has been made previously by Rep. Adam Schiff on the House side. From the LA Times:
We cannot represent to the American people that were doing a thorough job if the Department of Justice or the FBI is unwilling to tell us what indeed theyve looked at, what leads they have followed, where they have found substance and where they have not, Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Burbank) told reporters shortly after his committee was briefed by FBI Director James Comey.

(1,129 posts)If there were no transcripts there would be no reason to conduct an investigation....as there would be no proof to enter into evidence....
NSA & FBI have FISA warrants permitting them to
Review & transcribe all sides of the conversations they have recordings of ... as well as permission to accept, review, & transcribe all recordings/ documents / etc that may be provided to them by any foreign agency....
The IC has made multiple attempts to encourage 45 & team to change course....
- the summary of the dossier was included in the briefing packet
- the IC told 45 about the possibilities of blackmail associated w/ Dossier contents
- the info about the existence (but not specifics) of the dossier was then made public
- then the whole Dossier was made public
- Acting AG & IC notified 45's attny. About Flynn
-Flynn info goes public.....
Meanwhile, IC is continuing to transcribe & sequence all of the raw data...
senate investigations get going ...
FBI abruptly Briefs Senate Intelligence Committee
But is not as forthcoming w/house...
No hard tangible evidence is yet shared ....
maybe because this is bigger than what the senate & house Intelligence committees can address??
If there is clear documented collusion evidence... and the AG's involvement presents a conflict of interest or possibility of a superficial investigation then you have to remove the AG from the equation..
before you open the information floodgate....
otherwise all of the evidence would be allowed to go down the drain ....

(21,946 posts)investigated and is dirty? That would cause the FBI to hold back so they don't alert the perps that they have been found out.
