Argh this is even worse than the W days, the extent to which the public narrative misses the point. Nobody gives a damn that somebody said hi to an ambassador. This is important because Trump pushed through a platform change that gave carte blanche to Russia to keep Crimea.

1. Also no one is mentioning the Tillerson connection to Putin. PUtin needs sanctions dropped to take

advantage of Exxon deal to exploit Russia's oil. Exxon upfronts the technology and knowhow and putin gets billions for selling the oil.

Another case of follow the money.

I've read that Crimea ports give Putin an outlet for his oil.

3. Crimea happened under Obama's watch and the U.S. did nothing

because no one really cares except the neo-cons who would love a second Cold (or even another Hot) war. Crimea has historically been part of Russia for hundreds of years and the people, who are mainly Russian, wanted to be part of Russia because of historical reasons and also it meant an immediate rise in the standard of living. No one wanted to be part of an inept and bankrupt Ukraine government.
