Trump STUPIDLY declassifies FISA warrants against him in a tweet!!!

The FISA Warrants against the Trump campaign have been known about and reported on for weeks via a leak. The leaker could be prosecuted if caught because FISA warrants are classified and are state secrets.

However, a president may declassify anything.

By making these wiretaps public via a tweet, Trump has declassified them, so the original leaker can no longer be prosecuted AND details of the FISA warrant can now be obtained by news organizations via a FOIA request!

The man is a complete IDIOT and is only making things easier for people to get to the bottom of it! To compare this to Watergate, this would be the equivalent of Nixon giving the tapes to Woodward and Bernstein!

He just told people that there has been a wiretap on his phone. On him. There must be probable cause to get a tap. A judge gave access to a tap because there's evidence of a crime, or collusion with a foreign government.

In other words. THE FBI ALREADY HAS EVIDENCE OF A CRIME, OR COLLUSION WITH A FOREIGN GOVERNMENT. Or there wouldn't be a wiretap.

He told on himself. Unwittingly.

Every GD phone call, tweet, email etc. is tapped and recorded. FISA is a balm to calm the masses. The CIA doesn't listen to American phone calls? Horseshit. Besides, the British can listen to all of ours and vice versa. Doubt there's a problem sharing this info back and forth. The whole "wall of protection" supporting our right to privacy is a big fat myth.

This has been the case going back to Hoover and the FBI. We were told that under certain conditions the FBI had to stop listening and recording phone calls. They never did. They just knew that certain information wouldn't be allowed as evidence in court. But they had the information nonetheless.

So yeah, every phone in America is "tapped".

friendly governments.

Maybe the lack of a FISA warrant is why the information is leaking out so the Trumpsters will deny the conversations.

This is a game of many dimensional chess.

I have always wondered if this clown show (Howdy-Doodley?) isn't just a great distraction for something much more monumental. And maybe not involving the Putin/USSR or the Evil Koch Empire. Maybe something as diabolical as the Triumvirate!

There is a specific process the Pres. or who ever has to go thru to declassify any information, and it involves a bunch of people getting involved, signing off, etc.
what he did was reveal still classified info.

1) Does anyone know if a FOIA request has been made yet?

2) Can't declassified documents be reclassified as secret? For example if a document describing an important part of atomic bombs was inadvertently declassified shouldn't the government be able to make it secret again ?

First of all, documents have to be formally declassified: identified and logged. That has not been done.

Secondly, documents can be classified or re-classified any time, much more easily than declassifying.

Public knowledge that a document exists does not declassify it.

But you might be right about the leaker now being immune from prosecution.

said what he said wont get the leaker off if they are caught as they already broke the law regarding the handling of classified information so their best bet if they want to avoid jail time is to keep their head down and pray no one traces the leak to them.

It will have zero bearing on if they choose to prosecute or if they are able to convict.

The only thing that matters is the status of the materials leaks or mishandled at the time they were leaked or mishandled. Subsequent changes in that status after the date have zero relevance to any charges.

Your claim that the person can no no longer be prosecuted is 100% incorrect.
