I went to a big East Texas Dem meeting today in Tyler Texas. There were so many groups there all part of the Resist Trump movement and loosely allied with the Dem party. Gilberto Honojosa (chair of the TX Dem party) was there,as was Mike Collier the TX Dem Vice Chair and who will run for Lt Gov against the c urrent bully Dan Patrick. I was impressed with how many different groups were represented. Indivisible Smith County (Tyler), Voices of Easy Texas, Our Revolution, Dem Women of East Texas, The Snowflakes, East Texas Stonewall Dems, Pantsuits of East Texas, and Turn East Texas Blue. And those are just the ones who got up and spoke. Who knew there were so many in East Texas.
As you might guess, East Texas is historically very rural and deep red Republican Bible Belt. For example Tyler is in Louie Gohmert's district. Many of the counties in east Texas have not fielded a Dem candidate for local office in years. Well we are hoping to change that.

(111,969 posts)I hope that Democrats fill up those ballot positions. It is extremely disappointing to have a ballot with the only options having an "R" after the name.
