If he has evidence that he was wiretapped without a proper FISA order being sought, that would be a huge scandal, and he should produce whatever evidence hes got, says Sanchez. Its a pretty serious claim, and its striking he would make it without anything solid to back it up.
Republican Senator Ben Sasse called on the president to clarify his claims, stating that we are in the midst of a civilization-warping crisis of public trust. Obama spokesperson Kevin Lewis strongly denied extra-judicial surveillance of any US citizens to Politico in response to the claims..
Look past the presidents conspiracy theories, though, and one fact stands out: However strongly Trump feels that hes right, hed better hope hes wrong.

You cant tap the phones of a political candidate for political purposes, says Doss.
What you could tap them for? Acting as a foreign power, or as an agent of a foreign power. In other words, spying against US interests with both knowledge and intent.

(38,474 posts)that the Feds actually have to physically tap into wires. I'm chuckling right now. They already know EVERYTHING - they just sometimes seek permission to use it.

(1,462 posts)It seems juvenile to believe that the spy agencies wouldn't listen in on someone as nutty as Drumpf. FFS he hinted that his cult followers should assasinate HRC multiple times. I would be pissed if they didn't intercept his calls based solely on that.

(45,806 posts)a connection in Trump Towers.
Here's a link to that story:
http://www.slate.com/articles/news_and_politics/cover_story/2016/10/was_a_server_registered_to_the_trump_organization_communicating_with_russia.html
In late July, one of these scientistswho asked to be referred to as Tea Leaves, a pseudonym that would protect his relationship with the networks and banks that employ him to sift their datafound what looked like malware emanating from Russia. The destination domain had Trump in its name, which of course attracted Tea Leaves attention. But his discovery of the data was pure happenstancea surprising needle in a large haystack of DNS lookups on his screen. I have an outlier here that connects to Russia in a strange way, he wrote in his notes. He couldnt quite figure it out at first. But what he saw was a bank in Moscow that kept irregularly pinging a server registered to the Trump Organization on Fifth Avenue.
(snip)
After studying the logs, he concluded, The parties were communicating in a secretive fashion. The operative word is secretive. This is more akin to what criminal syndicates do if they are putting together a project. Put differently, the logs suggested that Trump and Alfa had configured something like a digital hotline connecting the two entities, shutting out the rest of the world, and designed to obscure its own existence. Over the summer, the scientists observed the communications trail from a distance.
Do you suppose THIS is what the Con thinks was a wire tap requested by Obama?
