Let me attempt an answer to my own question.
I suppose that since W has been speaking out against Trump to some extent, it might be seen that he could provide cover for some repubs to take more aggressive steps against Trump.
If so, there has to be a better way. W is a war criminal, and another stupid man and stooge for the rich, who managed to attain the presidency through corrupt politics. He is one of the precursors to Trump, lowering the bar for entry to the office.
Shame on anyone who promotes him as a reasonable person and worthy of anything other than jail.

(128,803 posts)and apparently mentioned this in his book, which many news media (including the popular type) are now reporting, you are going beyond the words and believe that there is really some special "relationship" between Michelle and him?
You believe Shrub?

(9,512 posts)All I know is a photo of Mrs. Obama beaming while embracing him. Clearly, appearing genuine, and clearly not necessary.

(128,803 posts)National Museum of African American History and Culture. I remember watching a stream of that event. The approval of it happened under Shrub and it was opened under Obama.
The sentiment that you posted about has been reported by various sources over the past couple days however they all referenced it as something that apparently came out of his book...
IMHO, as evil as the BFEE has been, Darth Cheney was the root of the evil.

(9,512 posts)still, enough evil to go around for both bush and cheney. there is a decided lack of principle among politicians of both parties.

It is often rough and tumble and ugly, but can be educational and rewarding when the result of the engagement is beneficial to the constituents. Those who understand that yet are able to carry out the job with grace, are pretty amazing.
It doesn't matter "what party". That's silly. It's the nature of what politicians do - basically negotiation with other politicians. How they do that is what is often controversial.

(26,259 posts)Not to mention that I expect this might really get under trump*'s skin.
And let's face it - W is a gormless twit and a tool for who ever has a use for him. His, for the most part, disappearance from the public eye makes me think that he was put on the shelf, until they could find another use for him. If W can now be used to push back against trump*, I say go for it.

(6,034 posts)They know know how stressful it is to be in the white house. Presidents of different parties often become friends after they both leave office for that reason.
George H.W. Bush and Clinton became friends. I would not be surprised if George W. Bush and Barack Obama became friends.
I am not going to judge President Obama or her.

(17,235 posts)Our democracy is under attack by a propaganda spewing, fake news reporting so-called illegitimate president. Anytime a former republiCON presidential family supports a Democratic presidential family, it's a really good day.

(11,606 posts)He still is a war criminal but there's worse in the white house today. Cheeto face is a traitor and so are the Senators and congressmen in Washington who are protecting him.

as i said in the op, there has to be a better way to bring down trump.
it is also no surprise to me that the obama's and the clintons are cozy with the bush's now. tells one a lot about all of them.

(10,798 posts)Why don't you post about that instead of this story trying to drive a wedge. This story has nothing to do with bringing Trump down.

(128,803 posts)Just because you have GOP lunatics like Drumpf who have no manners and make a living out of disrespecting anyone they come in contact with, doesn't mean that is normal societal behavior. It is abnormal and should not be generalized as a "norm" or "expectation".
You are suggesting that former Presidents are supposed to act like junior-high school kids and nyah nyah huff and puff and throw spitballs when around other former Presidents?

(9,512 posts)if that's how you read my post, you're hopeless and part of the problem.

(4,394 posts)And more or less all of the Republicans still around are bathed in blood from 9/11, Katrina, the Global Financial Crisis, eight years of obstructing Obama...
Yes GWB is a war criminal and so are his enablers in Congress like John McCain who refused to speak out against torture and Gitmo.
But the fact is that we're in an unprecedented political crisis that will only be resolved by making at least a temporary peace with Republicans who are willing to speak out against Trump.
Let's get him out of office and then worry about sticking the boot back in.
tomp
(9,512 posts)...how about actual patriotic republicans (I know, an exceedingly small group) temporarily switch parties to give some balance to congress until we get ourselves out of this mess.

(108,973 posts)that W. is no longer a threat to any of us, and DT is a monumental threat to the whole country.
And the more we can draw people like W. and his followers to the side of saving our Democracy, the better.
