Probably most people on DU have assembled at least one item from IKEA. If so, you know the agony of the feat. Perhaps the problem you had fell under this recall from IKEA at one time:

(146,288 posts)Every IKEA store has a list of independent assemblers. I don't know how much they make or what it takes to get on their list though.
I do know that I use power tools to put them together. A cordless screwdriver or drill speeds up assembly dramatically. Also, once you've done a few, you understand the concepts better.
