Donald Trump has over 26 million Twitter followers. But on his best Tweets he only receives around 100k to maybe 120k in likes. We're talking about 0.4% or so of total followers. Does't that seem very low to you all?

numbers in several ways--including by paying for nonexistent followers.

(4,742 posts)It says nearly 6 million Trump twitter followers are fake. LOL.
Still 19 million are real.

(65,227 posts)I don't actually "use" Twitter. I have a grand total of 10 tweets over all the years I have had an account, and just 4 followers. I know all of my followers personally, but the audit site says 1 of them is fake. I know for a fact she is not.

(32,075 posts)They follow him so they can tweet back, or to tweet him unflattering pictures of himself.

(4,742 posts)So many people follow someone once I guess and then don't bother looking/liking stuff again int he future.

(7,222 posts)figure that if folks in their Twitterverse were that interested in what he's tweeted, they'd already have read it (similar might apply to Clinton and Obama), so there's not much point in retweeting. Plus, if it's a doozie, the media coverage will be substantial and folks will see it and the aftermath anyway.
What is noticeable is that the vast proportion of folks who reply to him aren't being supportive, to say the least. It's generally wall-to-wall roasting, with just a few severely outnumbered deplorables quickly losing the will to live.
I didn't look closely enough at his feed during the run-up to the election to know whether things were different then, but bots may have been a significant factor at that point.
Add to all this that a fair number of his followers are fake, according to Twitter Audit:
Donald J. Trump
@realDonaldTrump
16,606,106 Real
6,110,865 Fake
Audit score 73%

(For context, both Obama and Hillary score 79% - higher is better.)

(27,433 posts)Not because I support him but because I want to keep up with his idiot tweets.
I suspect a lot of his followers are like me.

(31,170 posts)twitter really is a snapshot of those who actively engage online. It appears that pre-election day, a lot of pro Trump support was actually chatbots, and not actually people responding to posts. Hillary and the Obama's are still engaged with supporters and their numbers remain high. Trump's bots dropped off, and his numbers reflect it.
