The really big Trump scandal (almost) everyone is missing

Consider these developments in the last few days:

-- The Trump administration is working on a budget that would gut environmental enforcement in this country -- slashing $2 billion and 3,000 jobs at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. For example, an EPA program that seeks to reduce algae blooms and pollution that threatens the Great Lakes -- yes, the same region where voters gave Trump his Electoral College victory -- would be reduced from $300 million to just $10 million.

-- Team Trump also wants to cut a whopping $500 million or so from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) program that sends satellites aloft to monitor extreme weather and the effects of climate change. The former head of the agency told the Washington Post, “Cutting NOAA’s satellite budget will compromise NOAA’s mission of keeping Americans safe from extreme weather and providing forecasts that allow businesses and citizens to make smart plans.” But given the president's hostility to global warming science, that was probably the idea.

-- In the same vein, Big Auto asked the Trump administration for help in rolling back tough rules on curbing tailpipe emissions and converting to electric cars that would have reduced America's greenhouse gas emissions by about one-third. The Trump administration asked industry, in so many words, how fast would you like us to get that out to you?

-- Those rules won't get as much attention as Trump's looming order on a new travel ban -- ignoring findings from his own Homeland Security Department that visitors from the affected countries aren't committing terrorist acts -- or his immigration crackdown. While Immigration Control and Enforcement (ICE) continues to operate on steroids in major American cities, the administration is weighing a new policy that would separate migrant children from their mothers at border crossings. "That type of thing is where we depart from border security and get into violating human rights," U.S. Rep. Henry Cuellar, a Texas Democrat, said.

Back in the day, Obama would've been called a 'little whippersnapper'. Now, he's just a little wiretapper. The limitless ignorance and/or stupidity of republican voters just never ceases to depress me.

talking about all this other real damage that Trump and the Repugs are doing to all kinds of programs. EPA and decisions that will effect clean air and water. Climate change issues. Emission standards. Immigration. ACA Repeal and replace. Giving people with mental disorders the ability to buy guns. Education - moving away from public schools and going to vouchers. The disassembling of our State Department. Infringement on the people's right to protest. The build-up of the military at the expense of just about every other program that helps the poor, disabled and elderly. Defunding the arts. And everyday we're seeing how the Repugs are rolling back any positive progress we've made over the last 8 years.

The MSM is focused also focused on the Trump/Russia thing. When Dems or Dem talking heads are being given the opportunity to be on a news show - the only topic they focus on is this Trump/Russia thingy and any connections of his campaign staff, administration and cabinet. We don't hear much talk about the real issues I listed above that are being whittled away from our country.

And when 2018 comes and we have the opportunity to perhaps take back the Senate and the House - the damage will have been done - but very few of the American voting electorate will be informed of this damage.

We need to start running a campaign today against the Repugs and focus on what they've been doing behind our backs as now most of the country's focus is on Trump/Russia. We are being conned again. We are being distracted.

We should have learned some lessons from the 2016 election. Again - a lot of energy and discourse focused on Trump and we didn't run a decent campaign against the Repugs and their lack of cooperation with President Obama. We didn't talk about the gridlock and stonewalling.

Look where it got us. We lost not only the presidency to a celebrity - that we help make more famous by always talking about him - but - we lost the House and the Senate and because of that SCOTUS will be slanted to the Conservatives and the Repugs for generations to come.

We can't let that happen again in 2018. We could have a golden opportunity to win back the House and Senate in 2018. Doing that will aid us in being able to contain Trump for his last two years in office. And if by some stroke of luck - if he is impeached, deposed or jailed - we'll still have to contend with the Repugs for the last two years of his term.

We need to begin targeting the Repugs. And we need to begin now.

outrageous tax cuts they will give the 1%ers some way or other. Don't they?
So cut a few hundred million dollars from these needed programs and give them to the wealthiest of the country.
And you just KNOW those folks will let it "trickle down" to the hungry masses.

"sarcasm" if it is needed.

clear and alarming way. The media has to get on board to report on these measures and but this information over the sensational news of 45's tweets and rants. The media has to stop falling for the diversions and cover the real news and 45's legislative agenda, making sure the GOP is permanently linked to their devastating impacts.

Not only do they do rescue and drug intercepts. They also intercept those pesky immigrants he keeps whining about. I guess he expects to build that wall out 100 miles in Gulf of Mexico. They also have patrolled overseas like in the Persian Gulf.
