North Korea launches more missiles; 3 land in Japanese waters - Where's Tough Guy Thump?

TOKYO — North Korea launched four missiles Monday morning, a provocative barrage that coincided both with joint U.S.-South Korean military exercises on the southern half of the peninsula and with the opening of the annual National People’s Congress in China.

The launches follow a remarkable month in which Kim Jong Un’s regime tested a solid-fuel rocket that it says is part of an intercontinental ballistic missile capable of hitting the United States and in which the regime is accused of assassinating the leader’s half brother.

Both actions have angered allies and adversaries in the region, and Monday’s launches will only exacerbate that.

“Every year this time, they try to do something to defy the exercises,” said Bruce Bennett, a North Korea expert at the Rand Corp. in California. “This time, I think they’re also interested in making a statement to the Chinese and to let Beijing know this coal ban is going to hurt,” he said, referring to Beijing’s decision last month to stop importing coal from North Korea, cutting off a major economic lifeline.

Seriously I am. We have spent so much money and blood protecting the world. Hopefully that will stop. Don't you think Afghanistan and Iraq were enough????

That's NK's foreign-policy: Try to make yourself seem dangerous and crazy. But now that there's a dangerous and crazy person in the White House, nobody gives a fuck about the dangerous and crazy ruler of North Korea. And he wants some attention, dammit!!!

..............North Korea would be so afraid of him that they wouldn't DARE pull any stunts like that? You know, kinda like how he promised that Putin would never dream of going into Ukraine when HE was president? Or how he'd completely dismantle ISIS in his first 30 days?

Really. Trump is perfectly capable of launching a military attack on the PRNK without any notice. He tends to do things in a broad-stroke sort of way, and has the power to order such a thing, even if the military advises against it.

Now, I have no idea how well North Korea protects its missiles and launch facilities, but I suspect that our intelligence on such things is quite limited. If we launch an attack on those assets and it fails badly, it will not have been a good idea.

But Donald Trump don't care. He's like the honey badger. "Go bomb NK's missiles!" That's about as far as his thinking goes. If he issues such an order, and it ends up going badly, it could create a real war between NK and SK, which would lead to something none of us will like one bit.

So, I hope Trump doesn't take that sort of action at this point. It would be very ill-advised.

This seems like their normal show of power every once in a while... if they attack anyone they will be gone soon after.
