Trump has made it okay to hate again

Did anyone really believe the KKK, the Southern “Citizens Councils,” the neo-Nazis, and the countless other groups that hate the “THEMS,” had gone away? They’ve always been with us and still are. They’ve gone through many decades in which they had to low-key their bile and in which their viciousness and aggressiveness needed to be disguised and/or hidden.

Well, they’re back. And they’ve brought with them all the ancient horrors.

Their hatreds are now out in the open again. Many millions are rejoicing that Muslims are being turned away and sent back to “camps” or to death. Countless haters feel that it’s now okay to go all out defacing Jewish synagogues and cemeteries. And how many are rejoicing at what’s going on at airports where brown people, or people who have middle-East sounding names are being harassed, humiliated and subjected to unconscionable treatment, even if so many of them are American citizens.

We all know why the hatred, aggressiveness, and the open assaults on all the “THEMS” or suspected “THEMS” has happened. Donald Trump.

He spent years telling us that Obama was a Muslim with a fake birth certificate. He spent over a year running for president with his main message being hatred of “The Other.” And now that he’s in the White House, he hasn’t changed his tune. And his peddling of hatred is now being used to divide American against American.

Every sane person knows that Trump is an ignorant, unhinged man filled with spite, loathing, and a desire for revenge against any and all who don’t accept him as “Emperor.” And every sane person knows that this is unacceptable and cannot continue.

The Democrats control none of the levers of power. And most Republicans are genetically incapable of taking any actions to stop the insanity taking place.

The main stream media has finally turned against Trump. So what can we do individually? Stand up and speak out to every fool who still supports him. (Even if it means being assaulted, we must all continue to speak out against him.) If/when those who support Trump and his GOP enablers finally start to “get it,” I believe that change will start to happen. But no matter what, don’t be “A good German.” Speak your mind in each and every forum or confrontation. It’s up to all of us to speak out. The alternative, as I see it, is that we will be silenced … for good.

I bought up in a DU post a while back recent events where people who were neighbors and friends were stirred up to homicidal frenzy by one or a few, i.e. Rwanda, Bosnia and others. My fellow DUers poo-pooed the idea with, "It can't happen here."
