Former CIA Director Hayden is quoted in the article ( linked in OP)

“We’re off the map here,” Hayden said. “We are in unprecedented territory as well. So perhaps at some point in order to set the record straight we may do something unusual.”

What might he mean by something unusual--
That would be so clearly definitive that it would forever set the record straight??????
