Washington (CNN)Minnesota Sen. Al Franken said he now believes that Attorney General Jeff Sessions committed perjury during his confirmation hearing when he did not disclose meetings with a Russian ambassador.
Sessions' response during the hearing to Franken's question about Russia and President Donald Trump's campaign was demonstrably false, Franken said Tuesday on CNN's "The Lead" with Jake Tapper.
"It's hard to come to any other conclusion than he just perjured himself," the Democratic member of the Senate Judiciary committee said.
Franken also said that Sessions' response to his contacts with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak coming to light has been insufficient -- Sessions on Monday submitted written responses to the committee, denying that he had answered Franken's question falsely.

(6,496 posts)We have enough evidence to do that. Christ, the Republicans say that kind of shit about Democrats with no evidence at all. Dems need to become a broken record about this so that it will eventually sink into the heads of the idiots in this country. Idiot Americans basically believe anything that they hear repeated over and over again. The more it is said, the more it becomes the truth to them. Doesn't matter if it actually is true. So if we want them to believe the truth over the lies, the truth needs to be repeated more than the lies... much more.

(1,129 posts)Verbally Lying under oath
Even when audio/video exists -- is still perjury but can possibly be spun to create doubt
But to then modify/ clarify one's verbal testimony via written affidavit which states that the lies you told verbally really were accurate???
Has he confused double jeopardy with double perjury?
Two false statements do not = a true statement
