Is it just me? There's so much happening right now, I feel like I have whiplash.
The #RyanCare plan is a hot mess as expected. So all the GOP groups come out against it (Heritage, etc). Then dumb Trump praises it, trots out Mike Pence to praise it, Ryan and McConnell praise it... and leave their rank and file to flap in the wind on TV interviews. Chaffetz says to choose an iPhone over care, which he is STILL rightfully getting dragged for on Twitter 12 hours later. On CNN Peter King (New York) basically said we'll just have to suck up the bad parts but this is a really great bill. He said that while CNN had a huge banner reading Millions Will Lose Coverage By 2020. The AARP has already dropped an ad campaign against the age tax with a cute commercial and hashtag #NoAgeTax
A complete messaging failure and amazing opening for us.
There's about 4 four different Trump-Russia stories that I've personally seen drop today, most are peppered through the site. The biggest being that Trump did meet Sergey Kislyak after blatantly denying such a meeting occurred. And we have the claim backed up by NewsMax and WSJ of all places!
Then Russia and WikiLeaks decide to collude, resulting in the giant file dump of CIA hacking practices. I've NEVER been a fan of WikiLeaks and I think they put our diplomats, spies and troops in a very dangerous position. You don't leak state secrets. So now this CIA dump is both a threat to the intelligence community and a shiny object for the media. Anything to throw the trail away from RussiaGate, right?
Now we hear that statement that the WH has "No regrets at raising wiretap claim" and today's Spicy press conference was another embarrassing debacle of lies and confusion.
I'm just so tired. I have twitter and Reddit open all day to stay up with stuff so I can make reasoned arguments. I feel like we're losing a giant disinformation war. I mean, my mild mannered husband is literally screaming right now about WikiLeaks. You guys understand the end game here right? They dump the CIA info which includes data that our IC has the ability to hack countries and spoof to make it look like it was someone else. Follow the trail. Soon, Breitbart will accuse OUR OWN GOVERNMENT of hacking the DNC... and eventually to back up Trump's claims that Obama wiretapped him. Just wait.

(14,449 posts)It was nice. I think a day away from news refreshes the mind. I may do it once a week. It really feels good to be ignorant even for a few hours. I hate to put it that way but it is what it is in trump world.

(28,394 posts)Today, I just could not process all the news. The wikileaks story just short-circuited my brain. Now I hear that Rachel has some big bombshell tonight. I cannot keep up
anymore.
It takes so much effort just to absorb the details, but I am afraid of not keeping up with all the latest news. I know it's time to take a break. I'm on overload!

(348 posts)I'll be grateful to visit with my BFF, drink wine and not be around the news 24/7. She works in news and she needs to forced break too. We're just done and yet I feel compelled to read and watch everything. Ugh.

(18,816 posts)I wish I could pick up the paper and not see a single thing about Trump and his minions.
It is exhausting. I am starting to not pay attention.

(28,783 posts)A lot has happened the past few days to set our country
back and harm many of its people. It's not a short list
either.
Those Reeps have been busy undoing everything that Obama
and the Dems have done for us... and they won't be finished
till every American but a few is utterly screwed.
My biggest worry is what corporations and financial institutions
can do now with total impunity ... while citizens have no recourse
to stop them.
I think Standing Rock stands out in my mind as the first harbinger.
Now it's spread to so many other different areas.
Some people will get very rich from all these deplorable laws and
actions, while millions will suffer and/or die.
What makes me especially angry and hopeless is that I don't see
much in the way of resistance and protest any more.
I guess they beat us into submission.

(348 posts)She just flatly said the famous dossier is proof that Trump colluded with Russia on the election. And she's weaving how the leaked dossier is coming true, bit by bit. And this gives me faith. Now I just to find some hope to go with that faith.
