I can't wrap my head around how totally fucked up everything is that they touch and do

It touches everything. It surfaces in many ways all day - no matter what NPR station I listen to, no matter what I read.

I knew it would be bad - but this is spinal tap 11 bad - inept - rotten, mean, twisted, contrary - I can't find the proper adjectives. The ignorance is stunning, the hypocrisy indescribable. And it is not even two full months yet. It is the most bizarre form of bizzarro world conceivable - each day I hope something changes, someone breaks the news that will lead to a return to sanity and decency.

To have a group of people that take pride in their stupidity, carelessness and ignorance - this has to be utterly historic in the most negative fashion.

allow it to continue. It's as if you had an abusive adult in the house with children and you
allowed the abuser to stay because they did some things that would benefit you.
