WikiLeaks' dump of CIA hacking tools is 'devastating' for the agency but there may be an upsideby Natasha Bertrand at Business Insider

"SNIP..........
"Based on what we've seen for years, there will always be zero days," Bardin said. "This just forces them to innovate even faster than before."
Christopher Mims, a technology columnist at The Wall Street Journal, said on Twitter that any damage done to the CIA's arsenal would likely be temporary at best.
"Zero day exploits = renewable resource," he said.
The leak could have an upside if the CIA were able to reconfigure its hacking tools quickly. The leaked technology may serve as a deterrent for some US adversaries who are tempted to ramp up their own offensive cyberoperations in the future, according to Larry Johnson, a Secret Service veteran and chief strategy officer at the cybersecurity firm CyberSponse.

They'd better disassemble that code. It might just be a coin ruse to infect/identify its users.

(31,109 posts)4. The leak was this week, by Assange, i thought
Why would info that has been out for a year be talked about today
Happened Tuesday, not a year ago
And we know Assange and Putin and Trump are a team so this is a no brainer
When the hack or leak occurred isnt relevant, what is relevant is why is it being sent out NOW by Assange? We know why.

(118,633 posts)5. I meant that the data
was stolen a while ago. Wiki leaks published it this past week. Or so I thought I read. Somewhere. I'll go try and find it.

or they did it on their own knowing their buddy needed it

(118,633 posts)7. Oh. I think the archives are from data from 2013 to 2016. Maybe that is what
I skimmed. I don't think Trump is so stupid as to do that in the current situation.

(31,109 posts)8. Why do you think Assange is releasing now, to help trump

Every effort will be made to minimize Assange's treachery.

3rd party voting will continue and not only be tolerated here but promoted, too bad.
