Cotton: House Health Plan Won't Pass Senate Without 'Major Changes'

By CAITLIN MACNEAL Published MARCH 9, 2017, 7:01 AM EDT

Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) on Thursday morning warned that the bill to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act unveiled by House Republican leadership this week will not pass in the Senate in its current form.

In a series of tweets, the conservative senator called on House Republicans to slow down the process for passing an Obamacare repeal and said he wanted the Congressional Budget Office's assessment of the bill before voting on it.

Cotton is not alone in his opposition to the bill, so his concern signals trouble for the legislation in the Senate. Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) on Wednesday said she had concerns about the bill and also said she did not think the House bill had enough support in the Senate. Several other Republican senators, including Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) and Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT), have also expressed concerns about the bill.

and perhaps I should. But Trump is planning a little friendly visit to Rand Paul's neighborhood (isn't he?).

Trump holds no suasive powers with the left, but he still has his base and he can pull this off if he can generate enough support out in the districts.

Those supporting Obamacare, including those who have attended the town hall meetings etc. will let their guard down thinking there is no way the bill will get through the senate. In the end, Republican know how to unite when the tire hits the road and we will end up with a system like before Obamacare where millions will have no coverage and will be dependent on the mercy of Public Hospitals to give them a decent burial.

That said, no one but the sick or those related to the sick give a damn about health insurance or health care. As long as those 75% who get their coverage from employers are happy, changes in favor of the poor or those not in the "System" will be repealed with no replacement.
