On my community's FB page, I posted a video about how a group of people in Kansas City built a tiny village for Veterans.
SOME MOTHERFUCKERS came in saying how we should not do this in our community. That "if I want to help a vet, fix the VA" and...
Here's the part that has me seething, I mean SEETHING. After someone posted:
Some guy:YOU BUILD IT HE HAS A HOUSE!!! HE BUILDS IT HE HAS A HOME!! You People Giving People Shit Are The REAL Problem!! If I give you a thousand dollars you'll blow it. LayDeeBug: It's beyond the pale that someone would complain that we want to help our Veterans. smh. You don't get to claim the moral high ground when you're standing in quicksand. They stood by us. We'll stand by them, and if that causes you consternation because YOU think you are the arbiter of what people should and shouldn't do for each other....GOOD! My Daddy fought on foreign soil for this country...enlisted...not drafted...and he wanted to know what he was fighting for if not to keep the Communist influence from invasion and to help ours right here. Also, the "give you a thousand dollars and you'll waste it" meme is certainly old hat. Show me where you could build a house for that. Oh wait...

LayDeeBug: Asshole rightie To be CRYSTAL clear with you, my father was to my LEFT, for sure...but thanks for substituting YOUR judgement while impugning his service by belittling his views. Honestly, how dare you? Secondly, whether my Daddy served or not has ABSOLUTELY no bearing on my knowledge of Vets, and neither does yours for that matter. Thirdly, I will help who I want, when I want, however I want, and the idea that you think "fix the VA" (while in all likelihood you enabled a Russian coup) sort of says all it needs to say on the matter. People who claim the moral high ground shouldn't do it while they're standing in quick sand. They certainly can't do it while they're standing on a heap of bullshit. Take care.

(1,076 posts)The VA works fine for me. I'm sure there are those who would bitch if given a million dollars in ones. The AH rightie has clearly not thought about those vets that have compromised minds and bodies from their service.
I am a loyal citizen, in opposition to pRezident dRumpf and any GOP lemming.

(11,119 posts)I'm a vet, I live in KC and receive medical care and services at the VA Hospital here. I'm very HAPPY with my healthcare and services and response times.
However, I understand that not ALL VA Hospitals operate at the same efficiency for all veterans. Instead of privatizing VA Healthcare (I'm against it as it will result in fewer services and higher fees-yes, I pay fees!), they should study the more successful VA Hospitals-those with the fewest complaints/issues and mimic these operations thru-out.
We don't need to re-invent the wheel-we just need to fix the wheel we are using WRT VA Hospital system and ACA/Obamacare...
