the crime of betraying one's country, especially by attempting to kill the sovereign or overthrow the government.

the crime of murdering someone to whom the murderer owed allegiance, such as a master or husband.

18 U.S. Code § 2381 Whoever, owing allegiance to the United States, levies war against them or adheres to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort within the United States or elsewhere, is guilty of treason and shall suffer death, or shall be imprisoned not less than five years and fined under this title but not less than $10,000; and shall be incapable of holding any office under the United States.

Republicans (like Trump) are passing laws that will kill the sovereign. They want to gut many protections that are currently provided by the EPA. They claim to "disagree" with science. In reality, they are being willfully ignorant to common knowledge and their actions are going to negatively impact the sovereign forever. In many cases elected officials are financially supported by international corporations and foreign donors. Therefore in my opinion, using the position of power to knowingly cause the type of damage they intend is enough grounds for treason charges. If it isn't, it we should amend the constitution.
