I'm not a huge fan of the CIA*, but I think it is unwise for Thump to throw them under the bus.

He seems to be happy that their surveillance methods have been exposed. If they are surveilling ISIS, Kim Jong-un, and other assorted bad actors that seems like a good thing. No?

On edit-when they act badly, like aiding in the overthrow of democratically elected leaders

That the CIA can make their IP addresses look like they come from anywhere and THEY did it, not the Russians. But if that were true, how would the pieces of shit on RW radio KNOW THEY DID?????

Just like the circular thinking an R used with me the other day; that Obama wiretapped Trump and will end up in prison for it. But everyone is essentially wiretapped in the whole country by our dastardly intelligence agencies. (So why would Obama need to wiretap Trump if everyone was already wiretapped?).

Yet no such meetings were held by Clinton associates. If there were I am sure the right wing press would have made us aware of them by now.

The Department of Justice is responsible for law enforcement.

Both the DOJ and the CIA are as good or bad as the people who lead them and work there.

For decades, we have criticized the CIA for embedding themselves in American foreign policy and creating problems all around the world.

Now, it appears they are being destroyed bit by bit (byte by byte) by external protagonists? These foreign hackers are accomplishing what many Americans had hoped they could have done themselves.

Would we be better without a CIA? That's a tough question for many leftists that have fought the CIA operations for so long. They have robbed us of trust and treasure over the years.

The bottom line is that when it came down to the final analysis, they could not protect our country. Their work was used to harm our country.

No doubt, the CIA and intelligence agencies have their tentacles in all parts of our government. But, it appears now that their deepest secrets have been revealed? Wikileaks says that they have everything the CIA had? If that is true, should we re-build the CIA from scratch? Or should we look at this as an opportunity to continue dismantling this freedom-smothering organization?

Or should we look at it as something more important? It is more about the security of our nation than whether the CIA survives or not? Can they finally prove that they are up to the task of saving our country from determined foreign enemies? Can they finally justify their reason for existence?

The CIA is necessary. A nation like a person can not effectively act without intelligence which includes an awareness of what is going on around us.

I just want them to act in a manner that upholds our ideals .
