Personal diplomacy

I've been a volunteer for AFS, the high school student exchange program for over 20 years. When I renew my volunteer status, I have to renew AFS and the State Department. Exchange programs are overseen by the Dept. of State and all of us who participate are seen to be exercising 'personal diplomacy'.

I am worried about how trump will impact my life and how I connect with the world. But I won't stop being a representative of my country, and using the skills and experience I've been taught since 1994. And I hope that all of the career diplomats and other employees of the departments that trump is gutting will continue using their skills and experience. trump might dismantle departments at his gruesome whim, but like the robot in The Terminator, the severed pieces will join together and rise again.
